Why do I love Perfume?

As many of my friends would know, I am a huge fan of Perfume. I came across their brilliant music in Music Station when it was still airing here in the Philippines in 2008. "Chocolate Disco" became my favorite. However, I only became a big follower in 2012 starting with “Spring of Life”.

WHY DO I LOVE PERFUME?

There are three wonderful reasons why I love Perfume.
  1. Perfume's dance choreography is one of a kind. - Perfume's dance choreography is by none other than Mikiko-sensei; the same choreographer of BABYMETAL and other Amuse artists. I've only seen such choreography in J-Pop. It's very different than choreography done in the West and in K-Pop. I also believe Perfume's dance is not easy. They're very difficult to learn. One example is "Spending all my time" as you can see in the many hand gestures needed to be done in just one dance. One more example is "Nee" with all the different footworks. According to Perfume, it takes them two to three hours to complete one dance choreography. I really admire them for that.
  2. Perfume's music fits my preference really well. - I both love Japanese and electronic pop music. Perfume is one package of both elements. Yes, their voices might not be that great but they’re very magical for me. Their whimsical voices plus Yasutaka Nakata’s music can make you groove to the beat! One example is "Communication". This is one of my most favorite Perfume tunes. Their very cute staccato voices in this certain song make me want to dance!
  3. Perfume's performances always deliver. - It's not a fandom secret that Perfume does lip sync most of the time. Although they lip sync, their performances are always top notch! It's a mixture of dance, music and visuals. Perfume's efforts and their team's efforts are also ingredients in making one performance successful. One great example is their performance at the 2015 NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen. Their "Pick Me Up" performance in last year's Kouhaku was a blend of Mikiko-sensei's dance choreography, Rhizomatiks’ visuals and Yasutaka Nakata's music.
Here are the videos of the Perfume performances I've mentioned. Please do watch them so you could also get an idea what and who is Perfume! <3 I'd also love to show you the "Pick Me Up" performance of Perfume last year in Kouhaku but sadly, youtube deleted the upload so I chose "STORY" instead. It's kind of similar to their Kouhaku 2015 performance.

How about you? What made you love Perfume?

By the way, Perfume is promoting two products now, a toothpaste called "ORA2" and "UNIQLO HEATTECH". You could watch the commercials below. I hope we could also have the UNIQLO products here in the Philippines! We're also waiting for Perfume's new single to be announced and I barely can wait!
