A Gentleman's 9-5

Forgive me, it seems I’ve been a bit of ghost as of late. I have been rather busy as I have at last found suitable employment! The local bank has been hiring, and they were kind enough to take me on. For those I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting I look forward to assisting you in any way I can. Believe that I am most enthusiastically at your service.

Yes, my new position gives me the opportunity to meet many new individuals, but I must admit, it’s rather disheartening the way people seem to vanish almost as quickly as they arrive. Many of my first acquaintances upon arriving have since left. Dimo, the fine fellow with the wonderful chapeau, and my young friend Lucus, (who appears to have absconded with my jacket-thank heavens the warmer weather has arrived!) They depart silently and without warning and Arsène remains, left to ponder over the great mystery. Ah well, friends come and go, there’s no use dwelling on such things.

[private]

Bah! ‘Yes, Sir! No, Sir! Three bags full, Sir.’ Rot, this isn’t the life for me. It seemed a pleasant diversion at first, but I’m already growing tired of it. Arsène should not be idling his time away behind a desk. Oh, it’s not without its appeal, one can take stock of a good portion of population while helping to make their various transactions, and a less honest man would find himself in a rather advantageous position to...

I’m allowing my mind to wander again. It seems inevitable. An idle brain is the devil’s workshop, after all. The days grow longer and my patience grows shorter. I have not remembered a thing. Not a damned thing! Oh, if this were some common mystery solved by a little deduction and common sense I’d have it solved by now, I know it in my heart. Yet here I am, as much a mystery to myself as I was upon arriving. Hang it all, what is it I’m missing? At this rate I may simply have to reinvent myself entirely out of necessity.

[OOC-So yes, he’s a bank teller now (which is rather like enlisting your cat to watch over your canary) and after a day or so he’s already bored with it. Though anyone who comes into the bank would never know by the way he seems so helpful (and genuinely interested) when it comes to their finances.]

honest work for honest pay, bored now
