I just spent the past four years pursuing theatre in college, and lemme tell you: someone who knows how to be a chorus member is far, FAR more prized than it was in high school. High school theatre...here, it doesn't even count as theatre. Sure, there are the normal theatre politics, but the odds are higher that sheer talent can land you a role.

Plus, lemme just say this: I still haven't landed a real lead role. BUT. I have managed to steal the show almost every single time. Hell, I once stole the show in a role with four lines (three of which were "AHHHHHH") in a three-hour show.

Just wanted to let you know that the reality of things isn't always as bad as it seems. If you've got talent (which you do), you have much more of a chance. The only thing you'd have to brace yourself for is being a character-actor. Don't fret, pet. I've been doing character roles of old ladies, middle-aged ladies, and children my ENTIRE time here (and elsewhere), and once you move past the illusion that SOMEDAY you'll get Juliet (although, hell, who knows what the director's vision is?), you can feel very damned satisfied with the fact that you are REALLY, REALLY good at playing character roles.

I am rambling because I am sick. Lissen, I love you and I miss you and the end.

Love,
Sarah Brown with her throat feeling like she swallowed a thousand knives
