I've been wanting to post on here for a while now. I miss it.
School is going pretty well this semester. My music theory class continues to be boring and the homework is very difficult and time-consuming. However, things are getting a bit more interesting. In lieu of a final exam, we have to compose something and perform it in a recital at the end of the semester. I was a bit nervous about this, but now I think it will be fairly easy. I actually already have a melody that I composed in eighth grade (also for a school assignment). I would just need to arrange it for some sort of ensemble. I'm thinking either a string quartet or a woodwind quartet (flute, oboe, clarinet, and bassoon?).
This is exciting for me because I'm finally getting to apply all of the stuff I've been learning, rather than just doing busywork and struggling to stay awake during boring "lectures." I understand that that is what college is all about, but I also know all-too-well that I don't learn well unless I can apply it to something at the same time.
I remember, years ago,
catesby and I had a conversation about when gay men typically start going to the gym. I hypothesized that I would probably feel the compulsion around age 28...lo and behold, I was right! I started going a couple times a week with Shane, and I'm loving it.
We've also been brewing our own kombucha and painting the inside of this place. So far we've just done a couple of walls in the living room - but it's a very bold red and it looks really dramatic! The neutral color that we picked out is called "ash white", and we're thinking of doing the opposite living room wall in that color, but with alternating glossy & matte stripes. I got that idea from
sydnita and I've always wanted to try it since then. We also want to do the bedroom in bright blue and green, and the kitchen a bright orange. It will all look amazing, especially once we get rid of this god-awful grey-brown carpet. Ideally, I'd love bamboo hardwood, but realistically it will probably just be a light laminate flooring. Either way, it will look good and will be much easier to keep clean.
