I feel I have been neglecting you, gentle eljay. That all-consuming time-sucker that we call Facebook has certainly usurped your place as my primary outlet for random thoughts, and for that I am sorry. I will try to do better.
With that said, I'm pretty happy because it looks very likely that Shane will be returning in the next couple of weeks. His job in New Hampshire is ending, and
lvabfab is hooking him up with some Southwest passes to get him from Manchester to Seattle. He'd just have to buy a ticket from Seattle to Anchorage - and I believe the PFD special is going on at the moment, so he should be able to get a fairly cheap ticket.
In addition to being Samhain (I'm not a real pagan or anything, I just think it's a prettier word than 'Halloween'), today also marks my one-year anniversary with Shane. It doesn't seem like it's been that long...although, the actual amount of time that we've spent physically together in the past year is probably more like five or six months. No matter.
School continues to go fairly well. I'm trying to remember that I can't be perfect an all of my work. I'm especially trying to remember that since it's still my first semester in college, and I know that I've always had a tendency to start things very strong and gung-ho, and then quickly begin to flag.
I have a ton of music to learn in the next six weeks or so. It seems a bit overwhelming, but then I remind myself that it could be much less interesting work.
I'll head to bed now, as I'm singing Schubert's "Litanei" (one of the most beautiful pieces of German lieder that there is) for Anchorage Lutheran Church's All Souls Day services. Woot to the boot!
