Yes, yes, I know this makes me "unpatriotic" and probably a "terrorist" according to some people but...
Soldiers:
I appreciate the sacrifices you make to this country. I appreciate you risking your life to protect its people. But I just don't respect someone who kills for a living. I know the reasoning behind it and I know the purpose of it, but in the end, killing is killing. Maybe the person is "bad" or "a terrorist" or "the enemy." Whatever. You still killed them. And that makes you a killer.
What makes it ok for soldiers to be killers? Is killing something that's justifiable in times of war? Says who? Still seems like killing to me.
The thing that makes it even more difficult for me to understand is the fact that many (if not most) (American) soldiers are Christians. And, admitedly or no, this country and ideal system that they are so passionately defending is based almost solely on their Christian ideals. America has effectively made this a religious war, if not by attacking people based on (or closely associated with) their religion, then by taking their attacks as personal attacks on Christianity. So why is it ok to KILL PEOPLE in the name of CHRISTIANITY. I'm sure Moses thought he was being pretty clear when he wrote that rule down.
Yes, yes, I know that other people are killing in the name of their religions. They might even be trying to kill you. Does that make it ok for you to do the same? Is that how things work? Because it seems to me that that rule hasn't been in effect since first grade ended. And in this case the consequences seem to be much more severe, if you are a Christian and therefore potentially risking eternal damnation.
How is it that people, especially those doing the killing, think that this is ok?
