Hello, 2010!

Jan 19, 2010 01:22

Just haven't had much to say about anything, I guess.

I took a Roman civilization course as an elective, hoping for some stuff 'bout gladiators, crazy caesars, battles, Hannibal (ya know, the dude who took elephants through the Alps into Italy, and then the Romans were all "nu-uh" and went to Carthage, set like everything on fire and went on a rape spree?), but no, the prof's focusing on the ~politcal stuff~.

I've been doing some movie watching lately, which mostly involved Joaquin Phoenix coincidentally. Let's see:
The Beatles' Help! and A Hard Day's Night were both good and had their own funny moments. Love the clip of You're Going to Lose That Girl in Help!.
Gladiator (totally old news, I know) was awesome. The ending was a surprise to me (yes, I srsly didn't know after a decade lol), but the film was entertaining and I've already watched it a few times.
The History Channel was showing We Own the Night Sunday. Not bad; I missed part of it when I quickly went to shower. Not a very original plot or characters, but good acting for the storyline and gratuitous uses of 'fuck'.
Signs I absolutely loved. I wasn't expecting it to be so funny, but I did a lot of laughing. The ending totally blew though D: Imo, it woulda been better if they never showed the aliens fully :/
Another M. Night Shyamalan film, The Village. I liked Signs better, but this was good, too. His movies, while not scary, make me jump lol. I already knew the twist to the film, so it didn't have the same effect, but still good nonetheless.
Lastly, Walk the Line, the Johnny Cash bio-pic. Both Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix gave great performances, but I really love the live parts of the film ♥
I saw Sherlock Holmes a few weeks ago. I thought I was going to hate it, but I really enjoyed it. Can't wait to see it again once it's out on DVD.

Been listening to Johnny Cash lately. Reminds my of my dad's parents, who were/are big fans of his. My grandpa even had a Martin guitar, which we now have. It's something crazy like $5000. Anyways, good stuff, good stuff. I can't believe he died in 2003, though. It feels like it's only been three years or something.

I was going to do this all fancy-like, but I just can't be bothered.
