To descend without desire

Another weekend under the belt. Friday night, I chose to forego the dubious pleasures of karaoke in the Salutation, despite notgothdammit calling me a pansy. Sounds like I missed out on a whole lot of drunken debauchery, which wasn't what I was in the mood for. Instead I met up with Kate, who's back for a few days before buggering off to France, and holed ourselves up in one of the Irish bars on St James street for a good few hours. The text messages lasting well into the night gave me an idea of the carnage I'd missed out on, sounds like I made the right choice ;)

Saturday I suffered the usual 'can't be arsed' weekend lethargy. I emerged from my Pit sometime approaching evening to meet reclamation, in order to walk to the Pit to catch up with killerrrcocopop, mini_moi_uk and the more dedicated members of Sheffield Hallam RockSoc. I broke for Rock City early, having secured a review slot for the evening's bands. Hundred Reasons (for the 19th time) put on a good a show as ever, but it doesn't disguise a weak new album, which most of the set was drawn from. Easykill in the Basement were of little merit, being straightforward rock, with neither bells nor whistles. Despite most people being elsewhere (Kryogenix or Wildside) I stuck around, either with Meg upstairs or with Kate in the Rig. Apologies to spamsmolytic, I was assuming you'd be out regardless. Bailed at about four, when everyone else seemed to give up.

Sunday, very little apart from revelling in the comfort of the new bed (old one is still up for grabs, whitewave?) Finally got round to watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which cut out so much of the book it's not even funny. The new Dumbledore's weak as well (too much 'Gandalf', there). Still, at least there weren't any fucking house elves. It'll be interesting to see how they do 'Order of the Phoenix', seeing how they missed explaining some quite key concepts in this film. Glad I've seen it though.

And I'm back on night shifts once again, and just as the weather seems to be turning acceptable. An incentive to go for a run, at least.

Until tonight, update fans.
