And here are the terms of which I'll live...

You'd think that with the internet at home I'd have managed to update more regularly, but no. Of course it doesn't help that our wireless router STILL hasn't turned up, so myself and jonthebloody have been swapping the modem between our bedrooms as necessity has demanded. Internet shennanigans aside, what have I been up to? As ever, from the top...

Thursday - Got a couple of hours sleep after shift then met up with pornstarbarbie and perfectglitch to check out Bar None. In the evening, went out, predictably; students are trickling back so the night filled up quite well. At manniqueen_'s behest, Jay played one of his entertaining cheesy dance sets in the Basement, and stunned me and big_fat_stu with 'Ich Bin Ein Auslander' and 'Age Of Panic' back to back. Once the music reverted to the usual emo pap we headed upstairs to try and find fun, but left before we overstayed our welcome. It was a pretty good night for a Thursday and we didn't want to push it.

Friday - pretty productive day, caught up on some work (and some sleep), meandered into town to see folk. Then things started to get HECTIC. Headed for town early evening (via the Rescue Rooms to pick up CDs from Frankie) and met up with people at Bar None. Spent half an hour setting up with the invaluable assitance of lost_in_music_ who also kindly leant us decks, a mixer and a decent sound card (saving the RockSoc decks from being dusted off). People started to turn up about half eight and the party went pretty damn well. pornstarbarbie seemed to enjoy herself, people danced, I only made one little fuckup (due to not reconfiguring after a reboot) and people looked like they were enjoying themselves despite the questionable nature of some of the music (static_n, you missed Falco). Kayte and Shell turned up so my time was split between them and the music all night, so didn't talk to people as I would otherwise have done. Managed to keep enough of a crowd to keep going all night, and wandered home late.

Saturday - woke up about one when Kayte phoned me from the living room, all went to the Dragon for lunch, then bummed around town and debated buying CDs until four, when we went back to Bar None to collect the borrowed gear and return it to Academy of Sound. Had a quick drink in the Pit, then another little sleep at home. Headed down to Rock City about nine to see 3 Colours Red's last tour :( 3CR were on top form, and the show was a fitting end. Setlist comprised of one track off 'Union Of Souls' (and it was 'The World Is Yours', which is one of the better ones), about half of 'Revolt' and nearly all of 'Pure'. Much as I could keep adding tracks to the list in my head of what I wanted them to play, there were all the essentials (in one set, for the first time), so that's 'Copper Girl', 'Beautiful Day', 'Sunny In England', 'Pirouette', 'Nuclear Holiday' and 'Paranoid People'. The surprises came from 'Fit Boy + Faint Girl' and them choosing to finish on 'Hateslick' (which was great). Loved the gig, although I felt like a bit of my youth had died. Then the clubnight itself, shallowthing has already mentioned one of the highlights, others involved the return of some of the RockSoc and staying on the dancefloor for a decent amount of time for once. And Chris from 3CR hitting on Sprokette Sarah.

Sunday - Another late night meant another non-existant morning. Dragged ourselves out of bed around two and went to the Ropewalk for lunch, food there is pretty good now, but the staff are far too slow. Entertained ourselves reading the News of the World's investigation into Kate Moss' coke fuelled three way lesbian 'orgies'. I still fail to see why this is *not* cool. Bid farewell to Kayte and Shell, attempted shopping in town and failed, crashed out at home again, and got up just in time for the quiz, then Scrabble. Lost the quiz, lost Scrabble (aided by Abbie, hindered by static_n), went home with Chinese food and stayed up talking for a bit before another late night.

Monday - And back to work. Monday night in Obessions was it's usual self, although again the return of the students made the place busy. Andy provided me with more audio toys to play with. I danced to lots of bad bad music. Gave up about one.

And now, well now I need sleep.

weekend, rock city, djing, gigs
