Start the car, get me out of this one horse town, waste this night

I am SO fucking tired right now.

Got home Friday afternoon to two blessed hours of sleep before catching the train to Norwich with Jon (running into notgothdammit, who entertained us on the train). Got there, met Roxey in the Marquee and indulged a little in the local tipple, then down to the Ferryboat, as is custom. Chains was more hit and miss than usual, a bit quieter (probably due to Infest) and the music veered too close to shit remixes of 80s goth tracks for a bit too long. Got to speak to mz_pink properly for a change (good luck with Infest), spent not enough time with kinda_tots and managed to have a conversation with Tabitha that wasn't hideously forced. Gave up just past two, and crashed at Roxey's place.

Saturday, train back to Notts, attempted sleep but were disuaded by the loud and obnoxious chavs complaining about how there was nowhere to sit. Home, and another hour's sleep (catching sleep appears to a recurring theme in this journal). shallowthing turned up (bang on time), and static_n turned up (45 minutes late) to drive us to Loughborough for waggle_dance's birthday BBQ. Party was ace, very friendly types, the Loughbrarians, the food was lovely, and King showed us both his video clip collection (Billie Piper porn and Dr Who Outtakes) and his left testicle. Nice to see the ones that were there, sorry to not see the ones who didn't turn up till later. Must spend more time with those guys next year.

Then the journey to Liverpool. The four man 'Team Safari' in Myko's tiny car, being buffetted by the wind (I hope, if that was what he calls 'driving'...) up to Leeds. Got there in record time despite a pit stop, then spent ages driving round Headingley looking for Jules' place. Finally got there between many a call relating to what was happening in Notts (glad we were out of it). Jules' place is a nice student house that's being done up. Plenty of space for us to chill out, get ready (the shower had curtains that billowed in like a cheap 1970s BBC special effect), drink San Miguel and listen to the Misfits. Hit the fish shop for PROPER fish and chips, a department in which Nottingham is sadly lacking.

And so to the Wendy House. Wow. Firstly for a Student's Union the place is BIG. The rooms are easily bigger than Rock City, and it's more spread out as well. Secondly it was full, which was surprising considering the music. Thirdly it seemed very friendly and welcoming. The main room was playing anything from painfully obvious mainstream stuff (RATM, Disturbed) to the less obvious (NWA, 'Labyrinth' soundtrack). 'Mutate' upstairs in the smaller room had pretty fine cyber and industrial, heading towards welcome 90's cheese at the end of the night. Met up with the other half of the expedition there (gadgeeuropa et al) and partied the night away. The clubnight over we retreated to urbancannibal's place for beer and a couple of games of 'Zombies', with the tone being set by 'Zombie Flesh Eaters' (or somesuch) in the background. Finally retired to Jules' at some early hour and called the sofa to crash out on.

Sunday, awoke late morning and procrastinated until everyone was ready to leave. Went to a pub (The Oak something?) for a Sunday lunch, then wandered around Leeds city centre for a bit before venturing home. Once back in the sanctuary of the flat, we got Chinese food, and collapsed for the rest of the evening, forgoing the usual Sunday entertainment in favour of quality sleep.

One day left to go at work.

Who's going to READING then?

weekend, loughborough, norwich, leeds
