We are the colour they will never see

Well, it's getting on for ten o'clock, and I still haven't had a wink of sleep. This is fairly unusual for me, who can sleep in most weathers and with a fair amount of background noise. Nontheless, even after a hearty dinner and last night's Bond film ('The Living Daylights', I'd forgotten I liked that one) I've been unable to sleep. Sadly, this quasi-insomnia hasn't led to me getting loads done, more me hitting f5 waiting for forums to update. I'm beginning to feel tired now, which is typical seeing as it's such a nice day outside.

A brief update then. I last posted on Thursday; Thursday night was spent having a quick drink in the Speak Easy, which was far too hot to even consider going on to City, then home to have a drink or two and watch 'View to a Kill'. Friday was spent lounging, then town in the evening to meet Rebecca briefly in Cucamaras, then to Magenta (cried off Process, which my spies suggest was probably a good call), which was predicatbly far too hot. Spent most of the evening drinking overpriced cider and huddling under the fan with the usual suspects, and rabbleuk in a skirt. Finally relented when Mike took the decks and played some very danceable punky tunes, damn him. Declined offers of moving on to the Central, and went home for a cold shower instead.

Saturday, and the storm we've been waiting for *finally* arrived. I was in the gym at the time, and watched it get dark outside, before lightning split the sky in two. Being on the fifth floor, it was a fairly impressive view south of the city. Walked home in the rain, bemoaning it still being too warm. You know the temperature's wrong when you get home, towel off, and need to do the same again in the space of three minutes. Still, with the edge taken off the humidity I was in a far better mood for the first LIGHTYEAR gig in Birmingham with vampiric_monkey. Arrived about eight, watched the second support, who were averagely good, in a Midget-esque way, then (after bumping into Indie Sarah) positioned ourselves on the dancefloor for Lightyear. I've MISSED Lightyear. They've been gone three years, but the crowd still knew every word. We danced, we sang, there was plenty of on-stage nudity, bad jokes, and stealing the security guard's radio. It's a shame we had to leave slightly early, but our other option was to wait a good half hour for a train to Derby, before waiting a further hour or so *in* Derby for a night bus. We're seeing them again soon enough, so it's cool :) Oh, and archenemy888 is a big lamer :p

Once back in Nottingham I quickly returned home to change, and headed back out to the White Hart for stickyvu's leaving do. The pub was well attended, so I enjoyed a drink courtesy of fiendil and abused djsilverfox mercilessly before rounding up troops to hike up to Mapperly Top for nummie_devi's birthday BBQ/party/drunken mess. Observations from the evening include diesel_monkey being REALLY OLD (but having seen some fine bands), faithed not being as strong as she thought she was (or me being stronger than she thought, one of the two), and blooworzel being extremely drunk. Fun was had, before trudging home at a reasonably respectable hour.

Sunday, and back up to Maison Goth for round two, a second BBQ and the water tramapoline. I don't think nummie_devi stood a chance, as she was already soaked by the time I got there. We stopped throwing her in when her lips turned blue however. The rest of the afternoon was spent eating meatstuffs, and trying to convince an exceptionally drunk vampiric_monkey to do the same. I was nice to see paintedghost, Joel and Sprog again. manniqueen_ rather obligingly wore a white shirt, I gifted notgothdammit with more porn, and we took further steps to remind greeba that he's bought a house in the wrong city :p I bailed out early, due to the sun going in, being soaking wet, and an above average consumption of strong lager, which just makes me want to sleep. A brief nap, however, and we're back at the situation mentioned above. Maybe I need to go back to only getting five hours sleep a night?

Right, I'm going to attempt some sleep now, noize_ghic? notgothdammit? Is there a plan for lunch sometime today?

Tonight, myself and jonthebloody are off to Birmingham (again), this time for MC LARS :)

And finally, a belated happy birthday to technomouse :) Hope you didn't get rained on too hard, mate.
