I guess I'm Ambitious

I am at an Albuquerque Public Library this time. Okay, so I posted two days in a row. Maybe I just was dreading catching you all the way up so I put off posting for awhile.

Today I put up some posters and designed a few bulletin boards in my classroom as well as assembling a shelving unit. Tomorrow I am going to be helping ladies from the community make tamales to sell as a fundraiser. I am excited to learn how to make them and work on improving my Spanish.

Here is the list of books I have sets of in my classroom:

My Brother Sam is Dead
Summer of My German Soldier
Trouble River
Treasure Island
The Best of Sherlock Holmes
Julie of the Wolves
Tales, Talk and Tomfoolery
Boy
The Princess and the Goblin
There's a Boy in the Girls Bathroom
Alien Landing
Island of the Blue Dolphins
The Giver
The Outsiders
Eighth Moon
Maniac McGee
Bridge to Terabithia
Where the Red Fern Grows
Indian in the Cupboard
Sadoko and the 1000 Paper Cranes
Black Star, Back Dawn
Don't Look Behind You
My Name is Not Angelica
Reflections on a Gift of Watermelon Pickle
Call It Courage
Lord of the Flies
The Chocolate War
The Endless Steppe
With Every Drop of Blood
…and now Miguel
The Pearl
The House of Dies Drear
The Illiad
An Introduction to Shakespeare
Sing Down the Moon
Across Five Aprils
A Day No Pigs Would Die
Shabanu: Daughter of the Wind
The Lottery Rose
Sounder
The Adventure of the Speckled Band and Other Plays
Kings, Lovers and Fools

I have only read the ones I put in bold. The rest of them I need reliable reviews on so I know whether or not they are worth my time to teach to the whole class or assign to a small group. I am looking to know:

1. how hard of a read it is (what reading level can handle it)
2. content issues in the book I should be alerted to
3. whether or not it is educational in some way
4. whether or not is is an enjoyable book to read.

Don't worry, I will pre-read all the books I do teach and not JUST go on what you have to say, but your reviews could help me narrow down the pre-read list. I am a slow reader!!!

Please give me a short review of any and all books you can! It would be greatly appreciated.

Peace brothers and sisters.
Laura
