So I said I wanted a discussion post with comment threads, which I guess means I get to make it, but I'm lazy so I'm just crossposting from my tumblr.

Also! Continuing discussion on Teddy pretending to be superheroes when he should know better and maybe starting a new "Skrull Invasion" panic. What the hell, Teddy?

I think the "Skrull invasion" was just hyperbole. One Skrull isn't that much of an invasion. And he's very sweet, for a Skrull. So how long ago *was* Secret Invasion? Do average citizens panic at the sight of Skrulls?

No, though, it is such a terrible idea! If he had any common sense he'd just shift into a brand new superhero identity. He could come up with a new and better name while he's at it.

But if the Avengers saw the footage (and if Billy saw it, it's a good bet some Avengers did) of Spider-Man using obvious Skrull shifting (assuming that the footage was of the punch and not Teddy shifting on the roof, which would have been away from any cameras) wouldn't there be some kind of Not Good reaction? The Secret Invasion really fucked a lot of people up, and they have no reason to think this Skrull is nice-Skrull Teddy.

I don't think it is going to go anywhere, but I was immediately going, "Oh my God, Teddy, the Avengers are going to come and KICK YOUR ASS." Also, I wonder if them seeing that would have them eyeballing each other again. Because one Skrull definitely isn't an invasion, but don't you think Iron Man has been acting really weird lately and Thor never takes milk in his tea but now he is and now they are seeing imaginary Skrulls EVERYWHERE. All because of Teddy.

...I actually wish that was where this was going.

Teddy could head everything off by sending the Avengers a note, though. I'm just going to imagine that that's what he did, assuming nothing comes of this. But now I kind of want "Teddy causes the Avengers to self-destruct in Skrull paranoia" to happen as well.

See now THAT would make the hell out of it and then I could forgive Gillen for the wonkiness of his characterization. So, given Noh-Varr and Kate are out battling Skrull (and presuming the Skrull are not attacking simply because Noh-Varr is Kree - which less face it, is most likely) I am going to happily make this my new assumption bubble!

....Also, we don't know what time the attack is occurring as waking in space doesn't much adhere you to a time zone. Maybe the Skrull attacking are a side effect of Billy scrambling the universe. After all, when has THAT ever gone well? For ANYONE?
