I was still a lab tech at the time, but there was a tradition of groups of major city PDs getting together for charity runs and other things. NYPD came to Vegas a lot to unwind, and our Homicide chief was from Jersey before he wound up there.
The CSI lab is almost always active, kinda noisy, busy. That was the first and only day I could ever remember it being almost... silent. It was eerie. I don't think anyone even worked that day. We just stood around the TV and watched.
It's okay. The fact that you thought about it shows that it touched people in a lot of different ways. The more of us that remember, the stronger that memory remains.
I know the LVPD won't ever forget. We lost a lot of friends that day.
