You're 18?! Jebus! And I still have to wait another year and 3 days before I can go to gigs :(. Well happy *extremely belated* birthday anyway. I hope you ain't insulted that I forgot it - a little thing called my last year of school has been occupying most of my time.:)
Girls say you're "pretty", huh? :P
As for Star Wars: haven't seen it. I saw the second one; it caused blood to drain profusely out of my eyes and ears (apologies - Firefly reference). But seriously, am I missing something here? Am I the only one who believes that George Lucas is one of the WORST writer/directors of all time?! Honestly..I respect only the Empire Strikes Back (V) because he didn't write or direct it, and plus - Han Solo! Who can say that Han Solo isn't the best character in Star Wars? And I don't see why everyone is going on about the effects - they seem so weightless like...well, like effects. They don't seem more impressive than those that WETA digital or ZOIC can conjure up (oh yes, I'm so geeky I can name more than one vis effects firms!).However I can understand why people who grew up with it would love it, and I respect that. It's not really gonna float my boat, but hey...
What does float my boat, however, and I think may float yours too is a little film called Serenity. Check out the trailer at www.serenitymovie.com.au . Impressive, no?
I've seen H2G2 - its good fun. Monty Python-esque humour is present in large amounts. Occasionally perhaps it overplays things a little, but in general good fun. And if you like British humour, I recommend Black Books and Fawlty Towers. And yeah, the ROTK EE is lovely. I've got too many fave scenes to mention.
Well congrats on making it back to your journal. Maybe one day I'll get there. Maybe. But hey, at least I post the occasional decent-sized comment. That counts for something, right?
But if you're really desperate to hear about the brilliant movies I've seen thus far this year and those that I'm looking forward to, I could probably oblige.:)

Star Wars: as I like to refer to it, it's a fairy-tale. It's got a princess, a bad guy, a good guy and everything else a fairy-tale (or as Tolkien would say - fairy-story :P (just saying that cos we read tolkiens essay in english class - im a geek :P)), it's not supposed to be some kind of deep parallel to the real world imho. I know ep.II was pretty bad, but no.3 makes up for it, cos it doesn't have THAT much melodramatic love dialogue.
one more thing: The link didn't work.

Right...oops... www.serenitymovie.com If you like it, go get yourself a copy of the DVD set (Firefly) which is cheap at Amazon right now.(do they ship to Slovakia??)
Mmmm..well I dunno. I think any good movie should be in some way emotionally resonant to their target audience...and for me, this involves a good script. :)
But the other thing with Star Wars, and a lot of sci-fi, is that it's all (to quote Joss Whedon) "Stand back! For this is a forbidden planet!" They tell us that the story has nothing to do with us and that we are essentially intruders into some other world - e.g. "...in a galaxy far far away." This is where Serenity stands out as something completely different: it's set in the future, but it's still people like us - same problems, same emotions, etc while still being realistic about the changes that would occur in the future. This = emotional resonance. How can something be resonant if it has no parallel or is completely unrelatable to anything we've experienced? And if its not emotionally resonant, then I can't care for the characters, and it becomes a complete waste of time. This is one of my main problems with Star Wars.
Anyway, screenwriting rant over.

Tried to watch the trailer, but with my slow internet connection, I gave up after it kept on playing brief pieces while downloading the rest (=very choppy)
amazon probably ships to slovakia, but I don't have my own credit card and don't feel like wasting my parents one...not really used to online shopping.

So if a good movie should be emotionally resonant, then why do you like LOTR so much? Can you relate with the characters in LOTR? I dunno, but I don't think I can - I'm neither a king, magician, elf, nor a dwarf, hobbit or any other type of creature, I'm not burdened with saving the world, etc. etc. etc.
Star Wars is a fairy-story, and just like in any other fairy story, you don't have to relate to anything. Can you relate to the princess who kissed the frog? Or any other princess? Or any other frog? :) I know I can't. The main point of a fairy-story is usually the moral. And Star Wars has a moral - all the Light side/Dark side stuff.
I know it's not THE best movie ever, but it's good.
