Celebrate! I am back! :P
Wow, finally I've found the dedication to sit my ass down and write an entry into my journal. Well, at least I know I shouldn't start a regular diary - it would be sooo blank...
Anywayz, digressing there...when was my last entry? I think around February. So what happened since then?
Lots of debating. An English tournament, a slovak tournament, the slovak debate finals. It was a whole lotta debating (or as uninterested people like to call it - talking/yapping). The English tournament was somewhat weird, thus, we ended up 7th (i think). But it was there that I debated outdoors! :D It's pretty nice to talk about serious matters with the sun shining at you and birds chirping away...ahh...how idylic...
The slovak tournament was bland and uninteresting, so I won't bore you with it.
What was fun was the finals. We had high hopes, hoping for a rank among the top 3, but we failed to complete our goal, ending up 7th. It was partially due to the fact that we didn't put up our BEST team, cos our best debater didn't want to take the place of a guy who participated in most of the qualifying rounds, since our best debater couldn't take part in them, cos he prepared for the WSDC (World School Debate Championships) in Canada. It was a nice tournament generally though. And we got to slack school for 2 days :D
What else happened since february? .....I went skiing. I found out that my skiing capabilities are pretty reasonable. Except when I'm really tired. Then my skiing results in some pretty interesting somersaults... :D and I'm not kidding, I actually did one!
Nothing else major happened until april. Until the 16th of april. Then it came. I turned 18! :O (*the audience gasps*) I am now of age and can.....get a drivers license.....get locked up in jail.....drink beer.....and that's about it :) No major presents, since I don't really need anything (I wouldn't call a new schoolbag a major present.)
Oh, I forgot, somewhere in between, girls started gently...how would I say it without sounding stuck up, or arrogant, or self-centered...hitting on me? It all began on the forums on our schools website, where some girl who didn't say her name said she liked me. Then another girl started hinting I'm pretty and stuff like that...the problem is that since I don't know them well, I don't want to start any activity from my side, and some of the girls have some character traits that I quite dislike, but all in all, their good people. Oh, and then another friend who was in Britain said she showed my picture (for some unexplainable reason) to her friends and that some of them "fell in love" with me.
But enough of my bragging, it was not meant to be bragging, I wanted to show that I don't know how to deal with this situation and am somewhat confused/mixed up.
Now on to much lighter topics. STAR WARS EPISODE 3. If you didn't love it, go to hell! :P It was way better than episode 2, and Hayden Christensen's acting improved rapidly. I won't even mention the stunning graphics (although I just did...). The only slight glitch in the movie is the fact that although Anakin changes into Vader gradually, the breaking point from the Light side to the Dark side was somewhat sudden ("I hate you".....5 min later: "Yes master"). Otherwise - huge thumbs up! Wait, no, one more thing, the love dialog was sometimes too melodramatic. And I was perhaps hoping for more action on Yoda's part. On the other hand, it also contained some note-worthy quotations, i.e. "This is how democracies fall: with the applause of the masses." (or something like that) and "I was looking forward to meeting you, my little green friend" (i dunno why, but I found that funny - maybe the way senator palpatine was being racist :)
Cinema: I'm looking forward to seeing The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy, since I loved all five books of the trilogy :D Saw LOTR: ROTK EE (those who don't know what the abrieviation means - you wouldn't be interested anyway) and thought it was quite an improvement to the original version. I can't pinpoint the strong points of the extension in retrospective after such a long time (2-3 months :) but I know it was good.
But back to Hitchhiker's GttG. I loved the sense of humour in it, which was strongly inspired by Monty Python. That's why I now have the complete first season of Monty Python's Flying Circus on my computer. It's just so amazingly hilarious. I mean, JOHN CLEESE is A GOD when it comes to being funny. Maybe you should just check out the entry on Monty Python on
http://en.wikipedia.org and look for transcripts of their scetches. Even in written form they are extremely funny.
Now for the final piece of news - about the near future. From the 16th to the 26th I'm going on a school trip to Ireland with a friend (not the whole school or class is going, just volunteering students who applied from the whole school). We're gonna go to mainly Dublin and London, but will also briefly stop in Calais. The bus goes through Calais, through London into Dublin, where we'll stay for 5 days. Then it's back through London, no stop in Calais on the way back. I hope I'll have tons of fun there, see something interesting. But I need to buy a digital camera if I wanna take pictures, I really don't want to have to control myself with an old regular camera. I just love taking tons of snapshots, I hate it when I have to decide whether the pictures worth it or not. It would be good if my brother bought a dig. camera in the US (cos he's in boston at the moment and cameras there are about 2/3 of the prices here) but he won't come back until after I'm back so I couldn't use that camera in Ireland. Oh well, guess I'll have to find something at a reasonable price over here.
Hmmm, well, the entry seems pretty long. I guess you'll have enough to read for now :)
And again, I apologize for not writing for soo damn long.
