Summary: Wendy isn't number one.
Commentary: Leffe is awesome. I miss being at university and having it on tap. Even if you are not a beer drinker, you should totally try it - I prefer the blonde, but the brun is also tasty. This is tangentally related to the ficlet as I was drinking it whilst writing, which may or may not be a good thing.
It was always Kyle this, Kyle that. When Stan had good news, Kyle always was first to know. When Stan was upset, he went to Kyle first. When Stan was bored, he went to Kyle's house before calling her. Kyle was, on Stan's quick-dial, 1. She wasn't even on his quick-dial, instead relegated to the bottom of his phone list.
She had already driven to his house. He hadn't been there. His mom had said she didn't know where he was. Wendy looked her in the eyes and knew, in that moment, that they both knew exactly where he would be. She thanked Mrs Marsh for her time and got back in the car. She pressed one on her phone, then the dial key. Predictably, she got the answer message.
“Stan, let's meet. Tomorrow. About one? Stark's pond. Bye.” She had managed to keep her voice steady as she spoke, but once she had hung up she let out a sob. The charade had been going on for years. It was time it ended.
