SHOCKED, I SAY!

Koharu is graduating from Hello! Project. Not Morning Musume, the whole damn shebang. I'm shocked, even though I expected her to be one of the next to leave the group. I thought Reina would be first, though. And Ai. And Risa. And Eri. Okay, so maybe not. Honestly, I never really liked her, I'm glad other girls will have more of a chance at the spotlight and I've been a little desperate for a change. I'd rather have a new 9th generation but I still consider this good news. The real news here is that she's the first Morning Musume member to leave since the mass-graduation of the Elder Club members and how UFA handles this could be an indicator of what will happen to the other girls when their time comes. I had hoped that graduating members would be staying with H!P as soloists. The official statements at this point don't really make it clear whether she'll be staying with UFA or if she's making a clean break. Maybe they don't want to fall into the same rut they had before, but the roster is pretty sparse and there are some girls who couldn't survive outside of H!P as soloists. Koharu can't. Even six months later, I'm not sure what direction they're going with their image. Maybe this split is Koharu's idea or maybe H!P just doesn't think she belongs anymore. For her sake, I hope she does go in the direction of modeling or maybe even acting. I never watched Kirarin Revolution but she has to be better at acting than she is at singing. I know this whole thing sounds kind of harsh. She's a pretty girl and she's not my least favorite. That's still Reina.

Farewell Koha, you filthy crackwhore!

hello! project, morning musume
