a day in the life (or trials and tribulations)

I woke up far too early this morning, neglected my oatmeal in the microwave (giving it the chance to blow up), and got all the way down the stairs and out the door before I realized that I had forgotten my watch. This was all due to nerves.
The nerves were due to the fact that I played the prelude in service today. I was nervous enough for my knees to be shaking, which always makes the pedal a bit interesting. Fortunately past experience prepared me for this particular manifestation of stage fright and I was able to successfully work around it. However, I was concentrating so hard on not bouncing on or off the pedal at the wrong time that I completely forgot the final chord progression and had to improvise. But people were very nice, which is hearting even if they're simply being nice. I hate playing in public.
Then I had a lovely lunch (not prepared by me) which contained green chile. And some lovey biscochitoes which contained anise, but not so you'd notice.
Next I battled with Bride Dress People, in an attempt to set up an appointment to look at a bridesmaid dress. Hopefully I will also get a chance to try it on in addition to looking at it (?) but perhaps I need another appointment to do that; the phone conversation was not very enlightening. The bridal industry is very odd. I'm rather weirded out by people who call me "lovely", "honey", and "dear" over the phone. I'm not sure any of those descriptors fit me very well.
Then I had a lovely dinner with lovely people, who made me play cards. They are lovely all the same.
Then I discovered that one of my students had lifted nearly the entirety of a paper from the internet (not even bothering to match fonts). Why, Why, WHY? Any writing, however crude, is better than theft. Any amount of points are better than none. Arg.
Now I am freezing my toes off. Bloody weather.

music, teaching, weddings, food
