Okay, my landlord just let me know that a 2-bedroom in the building next door (which he also owns) is opening up. I'm trying to decide if I should take it

I dunno...I know you've been wanting a 2 bedroom for awhile, but that is a substantial increase...we're talking over $2000 a year more. Have you thought about going through and making a budget to see if you can afford it? And further, would you be able to stick to said budget and spend less on fun stuff? And even further, would it be worth it to have said budget and less fun stuff but a bigger apartment?
Maybe you should do some research and see what the going rate for a 2br in IC is, so you know if it's a reasonable price.
Yeah, I think I will keep an eye out for other options...as iowayehudit pointed out, there are other 2-bedrooms not much further from campus (though further from downtown) for much cheaper, and as much as I like my landlord, $2000 a year will buy a lot of videogames and Doctor Who DVDs. D:
That's what I was thinking! I always multiply it out by the whole year, because then it is more obvious what a dent it will make in recreational spending. And you are such a master walker by now, a little further from downtown would be worth it to save that amount of money :)
Are you completely averse to the idea of living further from downtown? I mean, with the buses and everything, it's pretty easy to get downtown from one of the neighborhoods that's slightly farther away. My current apartment is hugemongous (I can't remember if you've ever seen it, but I assume you have(??) - it's two bedrooms, a big kitchen, a big dining room, and a big living room) and I only pay 575. And if I walked into town, it would take me like 20 minutes. Plus, there's a bus stop across the street. I know moving sucks, but you could get more for less if you moved just a little farther away!
I have seen your apartment and it is hugemongous! (I am totally jealous.) And the idea of a bus stop across the street sounds inviting, too; I think the nearest bus stop to where I am (city, Cambus OR Coralville) is downtown. D:
Maybe I will check out your apt. complex and the ones surrounding; like you say, it's really not that any farther from campus, and I do have total apartment envy every time I'm at your place and see how much space you have. XD
