I Think It's Today

Had to get up before the sun today to pick mum up from the airport. My first of two pick-up trips to the airport this week. \:3/ I gotta say, it's kinda nice to go for a drive at that hour, particularly on a Sunday, as the roads here are practically deserted at that time. To the point where I was standing and waiting at the arrivals and wondering how the hell I got there. Although I suppose the route to the airport is pretty straightforward - turn left after the overpass, right at the mall, straight for the next 40 minutes, and then into the carpark.
Also, I only just noticed today just how much love there is in the air at the arrivals terminal. All those people eagerly waiting to be reunited with people they care so much for. Because if they didn't care, then said passenger would be making a path for the nearest taxi instead.
So having driving her home and returning mum's car back to her now, I had to dust off my own set of wheels after 5 weeks - literally. There's something amusing about cleaning your windshields with a brush. I think it's about one step down from cleaning it with a vacuum cleaner. I mean, you clean potatoes with a brush, not glass. But you know what they say about simple things amusing simple minds.

Speaking of driving though, I discovered today why we drive on the left-hand side of the road. Apparently it dates back to medieval times when knights and soldiers would use their right hand to wield their swords. Therefore, when passing people on the streets and whatnot, they had a tendency to keep to the left in the event that they needed to draw their weapon and defend themselves.
Fascinating. No, really.

Oh, and I should mention that I picked up Beatles Rock Band earlier in the week too, and have been rocking out to that a bit when I've had the time. It's interesting that in a lot of the tracks, the bass is harder than the guitar. None the less, overall it's much easier and much more fun to play - better than the last two Guitar Hero games I've played, that's for sure.
I've gained a new found appreciation for Beatles music now, too. I've only begun to notice how upbeat their earlier works are, and how morose their later stuff is. And the trivia facts that are included are pretty interesting, like where they got their inspiration for their music from. I'm intrigued by how George one day couldn't be arsed attending a business meeting so he buggered off to Eric Clapton's home for the day and wrote Here Comes The Sun while in his garden. There's something... free about working like that.

It must be great to be able make a living from expressing your own thoughts, beliefs and feelings, and be adored by the world for doing so. Though I suppose the latter is part and parcel isn't it? Since, if you're not liked by the world for what you do, there's no way you'd be able to make a living off of it.

Oh well, I just look forward to them releasing Norwegian Wood as DLC. Still like that tune; reminds me of the story in the novel. Speaking of which, I read that they're making a movie adaptation of that book which is slated for release next year. I hope they do a good job of it, seriously. Because I wouldn't mind seeing it as I can't be arsed reading the book again.

Anyway, in other news, I get the fun task of putting up with the nagging to find a job, which I really don't know if I really want at this point. Reckon I'd need a little more time to get my shit together before getting back into the saddle again. Pain in my arse that I can't get some other people to understand that.
