Free Fall

Damn, how can a person's life fall apart so completely in such a short space of time? Mum was telling me today about a family friend who she's had to comfort lately who's world pretty much collapsed. The last time I remember meeting up with this lady and her family, they all seemed so happy together. She had a loving husband, and their two kids were doing well in school, with the eldest starting to attend university.
Today I hear that the husband is seeing other woman, the elder kid has dropped out of uni and is possibly abusing substances, and the younger kid has lost all motivation to attend school. And they're all blaming the lady for their troubles. ...Damn, that's harsh.
I think it's kind of troubling just quickly fortunes can turn. And perhaps, with it, how quickly people can turn on you - even those closest to you. I know this is a pretty extreme case and all, but I don't think it's good to hear another reason for why I sometimes choose (as much as I hate it) to be lonely, rather than have to deal with complications like that. ._.

In other news, while I was driving back to my apartment from my parents' place, I saw up ahead on the side of the road that a booze bus had been set up. Now, in Melbourne, you hear about these police blitzes all the time, but I'd never been pulled over and breath tested before and nor have I even seen a booze bus up close. So I was kind of curious and excited in a strange sort of way to see what that stuff is all about. Unfortunately they probably already had their hands full or something, and the flow of traffic that I was with just sort of breezed past them. Pity.
So I turn into my street many several blocks down, and I'm bit of the way down when these red and blue lights flash me from behind. I pull over and I'm thinking "Great! Random breath test; maybe I'll get to see how it all works after all!" The officer comes up and asks me for my license, takes one look at my address and realises that I live 2 doors down from where they stopped me, gave me my license back, and then they let me carry on without any further ado. Pity. And as I'm turning into my drive way, I can still see their faces sitting in their car in my rear view mirror. That's how close we were from my place. Hilarious. :3
Still, I have heard that sometimes random breath tests do occur when they pull you over right in front of your home. And if you're caught over the limit, they'll still bust you. Just as well too, I reckon. Keep those bloody drunken idiots off the roads. >:B d

Oh well, guess it's back to out running the cops in GTA then.

Oh yeah, and before I forget:
