Manifest didnt start until 12.00, and even then it's only queing up to get your pass. But it's better than waiting for hours on Saturday.
Had time to waste in the moning, so
kureru_kasshoku, Julia and I went to our uni campus to use internets...it being free as opposed to paying for it at our hostel. Was only there for about half an hour though, then went to pick up
rowr_paintbrush and Marteen from the trainstation. I was in clothing as normal as I get when I'm not working or have other serious business things to attend.
We then went back to our accommodations to get ready to go forth to Manifest. Originally my intent was to wear kimono, but it was just a little bit too warm.
jeb_sakurazukaended up wearing a trechcoat Seishirou cosplay so I went with it and made up a Subaru cosplay by stealing parts of Dana's Subaru cosplay from last year.
I was wearing pants. It took everyone a while to get over this.
So we came, we saw, we waited.
We amused ourselves while in the line by video recording ourselves. There is caramelldansen in there...We didn't get many photos through, but heres this one of me being molested...
and of course, there is a magic metcard! What is ghetto Subaru cosplay without recycled public transport tickets?
Eventually we got our passes.
Not much was happening after that so we went back to the hostel.
Dana arrived from work.
It was cute and required molestation from me!
We sat around for awhile, then myself ,Marteen and Ivo went on a shopping mission because we were still lacking a few things. Namely a pole. Yarra trams never got back to me ;_; (there were other things though)
Pole finding was difficult-ish. We though "Yeah, lets get a broom handle from Big W!" Nope, that failed. Eventually we ended up at Riot Art and Craft at QV. They had poles...but they were only a metre long. The woman told me that despite the fact there was a hardware store just around the corner, they didn't have long poles, and the people were always directed to her shop. So I thought "yay, the answer to my problem!" and bought 2 short poles and some duct tape.
We then went to the hardware store anyway, because we needed black spray paint. They didn't have black spraypaint. BUT THEY HAD TWO METRE LONG POLES JUST LIKE I WANTED! THAT WOMAN WAS A LYING LIAR AND I'M NEVER PATRONISING HER SHOP EVER AGAIN UNLESS I'M REALLY DESPERATE! So I bought the far more appropriate 2 metre long poles.
Luckily neither of the poles I bought were expensive
The last stop of our shopping expedition was the 2 dollar shop, still looking for spray paint, and a long black wig for Marteen. Items were found and duly purchased. We then got on a tram to go back to the hostel, so that we could meet back up with everyone and go out for dinner.
I LEFT THE TWO ONE METRE POLES AT THE 2 DOLLAR SHOP. Just as well we didn't really need them after all. But after that, nobody ever trusted me with a pole again...
We were also supposed to buy groceries while out shopping, but ran out of time.
We went to Nandos for dinner<3. Originally some people were going to wear costumes but no one cept me did. But by the time I realised this it was too late to go back and change. I was wearing the Subaru costume from this morning...so I felt a bit uncomfortable being the only one...but ah well,
rowr_paintbrush took myspace photos while waiting for our meal...
After that we went for icecream and sticky photos, I wasn't hungry so I forwent the icecream, but I'm always up for sticky photos!
It was a bit interesting trying to fit 9 people into the booth. And it didn't leave much room for sparkles...
By the time we got back it was fairly late buuut...
rowr_paintbrushs costume for Saturday wasn't done. I also still had some finishing touches that needed to be done to mine and
jeb_sakurazuka's shikifuku costumes. Both required the use of irons, so we descended down into the basement of the hostel to do the work we needed to do. I ironed my hakama withb great justice and a lot of spray starch, and glued things. Lizz was finishing the iron on transfers for the pattern on her costume. I drank lots of lemon ice tea to keep myself awake. We didn't come out until 2am...
Guess what time we had to be up Saturday morning? EARLY!
