Amaranth~

Thursday was the start of our Manifest weekend, with Amaranth anime ball on that evening. However our story starts Thursday morning, with kureru_kasshoku and I trying to transport miscellaneous items such as a very large suitcase, brightly coloured bedding and a 2 metre long pole on the train. We were also in gothic lolita dress. We were quite the spectacle at any rate.

When we got to the city we got on a tram to head to the hostel. With all this stuff. Fortunately by this point we acquired a Julia

THE POLE GOT LEFT ON THE TRAM. This left as with quite a quandary as what we were going to make jeb_sakurazukas scythe with...

Despite the loss of the pole, we moved on and checked in at the hostel, and then went to class. Still in gothic lolita I might add. Julia refused to sit with us. We fell asleep.

We attempted to recover the pole by calling Yarra Trams lost property...No luck. They took my details though...

Posing at Spencer St station
After class we went to the station and picked up kureru_kasshoku's uncle. We then dragged him to a the new sticky photo shop(theres only 2 sticky photo shops that I know of in Melbourne , and they're within the same block @_@). Then went back to hostel to get ready.

Getting ready took awhile. I had to get up in my Setsuka cosplay, and it was an involved process. I have properly educated Clare in obi tying, and it was nicely done. jeb_sakurazuka did my hair.tl am I useless or what? Finally, it was done, and I couldn't breathe properly. But I looked awesome.

Our group had me as Setsuka(x), jeb_sakurazuka as Seishirou(Tokyo Babylon), kureru_kasshoku as Hazuki/Luna(Tsukoyomi Moon Phase), Julia as Neo Queen Serenity(Sailor Moon)and Dana in a yukata.

We were originally going to take the tram, and meet Dana there. We got about a block before she called and said she would drive us. So we spent some time terrorising random pedestrians waiting on a street corner.

Trying to sit in a car when you can only breathe minimally and have metres of thick cloth hanging off your back is Not Comfortable. It was just a bit cramped in the front seat with my costume.

On top of that we then got to spend half an hour in a traffic jam. Julia "made friends" with a man in another car after he attempted to cut us off at an intersection. There was much swearing and obscene gestures involved.

We got there, and for once in our lives, weren't late. We were joined outside with many other cosplayers trying to find the venue.

BEST QUOTE OF THE NIGHT

"Are you two getting married?"

(asked of me and Jeb) Someone genuinely wasn't sure if we were a couple getting married, or cosplayers from Amaranth. We were the latter of course, but apparently when you see a woman in a maroon suit, and another woman in a white kimono, could be a wedding! Mind you we were playing up and walking around with our arms linked.

I was also incredibly impressed that someone else recognised who Jeb and I were cosplaying as. They got a hug from me ^^

We finally found the venue and were seated...not without some difficulty on my part. There was socialising and eating.

As kureu_kasshoku so elegantly put it, everyone wanted to take photos of my arse.

There was some very nice cosplay there.

My favourite would have to be the Ritsuka(Loveless) boy. HE WAS SO DAMN CUTE I JUST WANTED TO TAKE HIM HOME AND FEED HIM CAKE. Tl I think we scared him^^;

There was also dancing. I dance like a spazz XD. There is video evidence. There was also a couples slow dance. Jeb and I attempted, but I kept laughing...there is more video evidence. Moral of the story is, I fail at dancing

We took some "formal" photos XD.

Then were just being silly...

Then there was the King and Queen of Amaranth competition. The winner of the King title was a Tuxedo Mask cosplayer, much to Julia's delight.

We took some photos outside afterward.

It's not quite Rainbow Bridge, but the Bolte Bridge still makes for interesting photos^~

That wasn't our limosine, but that didn't stop us =3

God, moving in that kimono was slow business. I could only take really small steps(kind of a shuffle really) becuase else it all would have been messed up, and the entire top of my body was held rather straight and rigid. I'm sure it's good for your posture, but I couldn't bend over or anything

amaranth. cosplay, manifest
