good night, better morning

for possibly the first time since i was 11, i finished an essay way before it was due. all-nighters are my thing. i can control all-nighters. all-nighters don't fail me. i will do my research and planning ahead of time, but actually write the essay in the 12hrs before it's due. but i wanted to do it differently this time. my food&drink essay on eighteenth-century coffeehouses was completed at 7:30pm last night and was only due this afternoon! none of my friends could believe it, and heck - neither could i. doing the citations took about 45mins, and at 8:30 i was ready to go to pirate night at the Derry with everyone else. Chris and i then stayed up till 1:30am talking about careers and goals and expectations, it was rather enlightening. as far as the work went though, i was just as exhausted, and in all honesty - i probably spent the same time writing it as i would anyway, it was just done sooner. thing is, i've got a gender&society essay due in two weeks, and i don't think i could do this again. it was really hard to force myself to sit and write. but i will admit that it felt nice to go out and relax, and to get a good night's sleep.
Chris's seminar was cancelled and he didn't go to lecture so he joined me in going into town. absolutely lovely weather! blue skies and sun and even some warmth. spring is on its way. i had to hand my essay in to King's Manor, the other York campus. we walked into bookstores and music stores to stare at stationary and guitars, and then strolled through the Castle Gardens to get to the Manor. i didn't know it, but King's Manor is more than 2 (gorgeous!) old buildings. like, they're kind of open buildings wrapping around courtyards which you can't see from the outside. unless all students have the chance to study in such a beautiful environment - i don't think any should! it's not fair, haha. after dropping off the essay, we went into the city art gallery and headed back to the shop area. got free Cadbury pudding, and went into WHSmith where we both bought excellent cookbooks on sale. him: one pot dinners and mexican food. me: chocolate! the recipes look absolutely amazing, and not too complicated.
came back, checked our mail, and i received a big parcel from Oma and Opa! chock-a-bock full of chocolate and meat, mmm. i have all the food. oh, and some funky-looking pasta. ate leftover burritos in the kitchen with Ian, Tim, and Mark and chucked paper aiplanes at each other while discussing (what else?) food. Chris went to seminar and i finished watching last night's Grey's Anatomy (ohh, i cried).
so yes, good night, better morning.
around 6ish, we're taking the train to Doncaster to then take the bus to Chris's dad's. we're going out for a curry tonight with his dad, Kath, Garrick (step-brother), and his dad's friend and "adopted" family. should be chaotic, but good. it'll be nice to get away for a bit see more of the town. last time it was covered in mist and too cold to stay out and cuddle the dogs and horses! also, it'll be fun to see the locals again, always good for a laugh and the sweetest people.

weather, food, school, england, friends, boys
