Dear Dragon:

It is two days before your 14 month anniversary of life. Your mother and I are gearing up to celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary (August 2nd, incase you don’t know/remember). That weekend there is also your extended family Stitt’s house warming party and the uptown art fairs.

This week, you are walking! Not quite stable yet, you are falling down a bit, and making me look and feel like a bad papa. Yesterday you had a bruise on your left temple to over your eye. It was a fairly large bruise. Today, You showed me how you got it... OUCH! Taking a step, falling sideways and smacking your head against the coffee table.

With this you are trying to be more independant then you are ready for. I really love how you try, stop, look at it, try to figure it out, and try again... but this is coming with a price. We have to keep an sharper eye on you then we have in the past, and are expecting that we will have to do so for a long time to come yet.
You don’t seem to know how to ask for help yet, Mommy and I are trying to figure out how to teach you, for example, we get that you pulling on your mother’s shirt means “FEED ME SEYMOUR”, however, you know the sign for “milk”, and we are trying to convince you to use your sign to ask for it. Currently you sign milk, as mama is giving you milk, we are getting there.

I know I have asked you to slow down before. This time I am asking you to slow down, but this time, as I do mean to your growing up as fast as you are, I also mean, don’t just pull things down to topple over you, give us a chance to get there to help you.

While I am typing this message, you are playing one of your favorite games with me, that you like to play with uncle Aaron, you are bouncing your ball (your small orange ball with the blinky lights (when bouncing)) across the coffee table to me, which I send back to you, if it rolls past you, you simply fall down, turn around get it, come back and play some more.

I love everything about you:
Dadadadada

P. S. Thumb to your temple is “Dad” not... why do I get the feeling I have said this before?
