THROWBACK THURSDAYS (Episode 6)
Hey, hey, what's good Yonsei? Isn't Thursday just lovely indeed. We just opened our Throwback Thursdays show with a 1970's hit, Isn't She Lovely, by the music legend that is Stevie Wonder. Goooooooood afternoon, Yonsei! This is DJ Song Joongki, bringing you an extended episode of Throwback Thursdays only here on 120FM Yonsei Campus Radio!
We have a full show for you today, something for everyone, I believe... so let's quickly move on with the show as we bring you a special Triple Treat. Because the world celebrated Michael Jackson's 4th death anniversary this week... this is Throwback Thursdays' tribute to him. Here now is music from the one and only King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

The Yonsei University Greek Houses would like to announce that they will be opening their doors for aspiring new members of their brotherhood and sisterhood. There will be rushing activities beginning the 24th of June, conducted by the eight different Greek Houses, and all unafilliated students interested in the Greek Life are encouraged to come mingle and get to know potential brothers and sisters. The Houses will be announcing their events individually, so keep your eyes peeled on the Events Board!

Yes, Throwback Thursdays is happening right now, only here on 120FM Yonsei Campus Radio, and we just got off the break with songs from Boohwal, of course that's Neverending Story, Jo Gyuman ajussi with his rendition of I Will Give You Everything, and Brown Eyes with a song called Already One Year.
And now that we've all mellowed down a bit, I guess it's time to pick up the pace, and SO! I'm going to bring out the actual reason why I wanted to do this show today! (laughs) No seriously, I just really wanted to play some good 'ol Backstreet Boys music... and then someone requested N*Sync the other day, so of course we'll do N*Sync as well! It's a head-to-head set now, ladies and gentlemen: music from AJ, Brian, Howie, Kevin and Nick AKA The Backstreet Boys back-to-back with the guys who called themselves N*Sync... Chris, JC, Joey, Justin and Lance. Enjoy!

And we're back! You're still with me, DJ Joongki, and we're about to break through the first hour of the show with some music suggestions from our lovely Yonseians who are currently "throwback"-ing with us... (laughs) That's not a real word, I'm sorry. But anyway, yesterday, I asked: What is your favorite song back in high school and why? and we had people responding with the following:
DARA DARA SANDARA said: REPLAY by SHINee. SHAWTY meanwhile sent in the song The Bad Touch by Bloodhound Gang, and finally TACO LOCO CHICO said: "My favorite song in high school was Hey Ya! by Outkast! Because Andre 3000 was clearly my spirit animal. And that song always reminds me of ladies shaking it in the summer time. Always a happy feeling. And the video is perfect."
Well then, let's bring these songs out and send you lovely folks down memory lane, shall we? Yonsei, this is YOUR Throwback Thursdays... only here at 120FM Yonsei Campus Radio, good afternoon!

Speaking of Greek Houses... yes, your friendly neighborhood DJ, that's me, is encouraging all of you Non-Greek affiliated folk to try and check out all the events that the houses are preparing. I'm pretty sure they will be doing their best to not only introduce the ins and outs of Greek Life, but also show you a rockin' good time. Check our calendars as well as the school bulletin boards for more information... and I hope you guys have fun... AND of course I also hope to meet some of you at our own event.
We're at the second hour of the show now, and because I gave you American boyband power two jumps earlier, this time I'm giving you Korean idol power! Up next are songs from G.O.D., F-IV, Sechskies, and Shinhwa... who are also still promoting recently with a song called This Love. But no, we're not playing that because this is Throwback Thursday and we gotta go back in time! Roll it!

Wooooohooo! Man that was a fun song! You just heard the King of Rock Elvis Presley with the song Burning Love, and before that, we played All My Loving by The Beatles, and La Isla Bonita by Madonna. How's your Throwback Thursday going, Yonsei? Well I hope you're enjoying the mish-mash of songs we've put together for today's show, because we have more songs sent in by our fellow Yonseians and listeners. The question is: "What is your favorite songback in high school, and why?" and here are some more responses.
Caller TOTORO sent in the song "Girls and Boys" by Blur, and GEE said, "James Blunt's "You're Beautiful" was on the air a lot back then, and I really liked it. Kind of still reminds me of my first two years in High School."
Meanwhile, FEI sent in a French song whose title I didn't want to mangle, so I looked for a translation... and it's "Samba of My Beating Heart" by Coralie Clement. Finally, HEDGEY answered, "Flowerpot by Alex Chu of Clazziquai. Not only was this my favourite song, it also reminds me of high school when I hear it now! It's that sort of feeling, isn't it? A trembling first love that's light and sweet."
Thank you so much guys... for calling in and sending in your responses. Oh wait, there's one last one that's from (laughs) I did NOT SEND THIS, but it says PLEDGE MASTER JOONGKI, and the song is... well, thank goodness it's actually a song I'd send in. Smooth, by Santana featuring Rob Thomas. I will be raffling prizes off in a bit... and wouldn't it be really cool if I won it? (laughs) I'm just kidding. Here are your throwback songs, you guys! You're still listening to 120FM Yonsei Campus Radio!

Again, good Thursday afternoon, Yonseians! You are now with me, DJ Joongki, on the third and final hour of Throwback Thursdays! (claps) Seriously... this is a looong show today, and I have got our callers and requesters to thank for that. Thank you so much guys, we all feel loved over here.
So right after that break you heard the song Let Me Love All Of You by Jang Hyeri which was a song that became popular in 1989, and was also performed by actress Kim Jungeun in the 2004 drama Lovers in Paris. This song will be our Flashback-to-Back song for the day, as I've discovered a rockin' cool remake done by WAX just three years back. Buuut before we do that, let's raffle off prizes first!
Today, I'm raffling off two gift certificates to any
spa treatment for two at The Spa, Grand Hyatt Hotel, Seoul. Holy sh--oots. Now I wanna win. (laughs) Okay, let's do this... the winniers of the spa gift certificates are--drumroll please (drumroll sound effects)--FEI and SHAWTY! Congratulations, you guys... we'll be contacting you soon so you could claim your prizes. We'll be raffling more prizes next week, so be sure to tune in everyday and participate in our little activities!
Back to the show, here's WAX with her remake of the 1989 Jang Hyeri hit, Let Me Love All Of You.

Riiiiight down on our final stretch, we just played the songs U by idol group SES and Bring It All Back by S Club 7! Thank you, Yonsei, for putting us on your background this Thursday afternoon, and I hope you all had fun listening and reminiscing while tuned in to this edition of Throwback Thursdays! I think we've had a lot of testosterone throughout the program, so now I'll be leaving you with songs from two girl groups: a Korean and a British one.
Closing this week's throwback show are FINKL with a song called To My Boyfriend, and The Spice Girls with Wannabe. Tune in for more shows coming at you only here at 120FM Yonsei Campus Radio--again, this is your Throwback DJ for the day, Song Joongki, greeting you a good afternoon! Peace out!
