fings and I had a very nice day yesterday walking about lower Manhattan. Made some small purchases that pleased us: a new Harry Potter bookbag (my old one was starting to fall apart and this one is powder blue with sparkly silver writing, I like it a lot and it was only $7, whoohoo), new mini-umbrella and 2 LED flashlight pens at the Un-Imperialist Non-Oppressive Bookstore (34 Carmine St., very cute litte place with nice & cheaply priced products, the establishment is 2 storefronts side by side, 1 is a children's bookstore, the other for adults). Also, I received another early birthday present in the form of *fabulous* vintage sunglasses from this awesome little vintage toy store (damn, I can't remember it's name). I can't put into words how much I love these frames, it's like the culmination of my search: every pair of sunglasses I have bought since freshman year of college have led to these :P. Thanks again to my sweetie! I guess I'll have to post a picture.
fings got to browse books and dvds to his hearts content and purchased a couple at TLA right before we left NY. We had delicious burgers & frites for lunch in Hoboken before we ventured to NYC and decent Mexican at some place whose name eludes me before we headed back to Hoboken. It was a beautiful day and all of the rain was expected turned out to be a bit of pitiful drizzling, thank goodness. Felt really good to walk around, though I have to say I'm not too thrilled at how tired my fat ass was when we got back to the apartment. And I was annoyed at how much my stupid flat feet and bad ankle were bothering me, but a foot massage helped to alleviate that quite a bit :).
Today's big thing was mostly grocery shopping (much needed!). We had intended to clean up the apartment as much as possible for the birthday party fings is tossing for me next Saturday and yeah right, haha, there's still everything to do. Fortunately there is still time to get things ready.
