Sunday randomness

I haven't blogged all week because Mom was here visiting...we had a nice visit, fitting in a lot of Riverside-area sightseeing, some beach/coast time, baseball, good food & also quite a bit of just relaxing and catching-up time.  I have a little bit of a hard time with visits like this though, because although it is great to see people that I miss immensely, it's also like a teaser -- just a little bit of time with them, but then another long stretch where the only good contact is via telephone and IM.  I've felt this way with
whereserin 's little visits over the past year too... I guess I am a little more co-dependent than I originally thought.

I have a few things quite randomly that I'd like to comment on:
  • I am enjoying this season of "So You Think You Can Dance" immensely.  I am really liking Kherington & Twitch, and have been really pleasantly surprised by Katee and Joshua -- I completely thought that Katee would be a one-trick vanilla pony and she's been awesomely diverse with Hip-Hop, Jazz/Broadway & Rhumba.  Sadly, one of the dancers who I really liked in auditions, Kourtni Lind, has totally underwhelmed me in partner dancing... likewise to all of the contemporary boys this season.  I'm bored with that.  I'm still waiting to see what Mark & Chelsie keep doing too... their routines have all been stellar.
  • Ouch: teenager decapitated by rollercoaster at Six Flags in Georgia.  That must have been some hat.
  • While I'm very amused that Vh1 feels a retrospective is already in order, I am enjoying watching "I Love the Millenium" right now.
  • There is a new Orbit gum in a "Maui Melon Mint" flavor.  Husband & I keep saying it out loud and remarking how much it makes us sound like Elmer Fudd if we kind of slur through the "L" in melon.  Try it, you'll like it!  (the Elmer-Fudd-ing, I mean... the gum sounds gross)
  • I need to go see Wall-E this week!  But I also work for the next 6 days straight (hopefully just a 1/2 day on July 4th, but then it's my Saturday for the month).  I am hoping that I go back to work tomorrow and have relatively little catching-up to do from my 3 days off.
  • I am really enjoying the flowers I got at the Farmer's Market yesterday -- I split the bouquet up into a bunch of smaller ones, so they are all over the house, and so far, Lina has behaved and not tipped any over.  I also had some of my hummus with tortilla bread, and that is a good buy too.
Speaking of food, I think it's time to make a salad for dinner.  I've gotten my second wind now, after getting up at 3:45 AM to get Mom to the airport by 6 AM in San Diego, then spending time at Balboa Park & the Zoo in the AM.  For your information, most of the animals poop a lot in the morning...we were witnesses to flamingoes, gorillas, elephants, and random monkeys all cleaning out their GI tracts.  It was quite amusing, actually.

work, day to day, so you think you can dance", amusing me
