[Kurtis feels the earth shaking, and rushes to the source to investigate. When he sees the beast, he prepares to attack, but first he wonders whether it understands him...]

[Fortunately, Kurtis had just been to the stores. He reaches into his pack with both flippers and pulls them out wearing a pair of gauntlets clearly made for human hands. He points them at the beast and they shoot from his hands, flying on rockets toward the creature.]

[Kurtis analyzed the situation quickly. His gloves were quickly returning, but they seemed to be no use. His lasers were still inactive, so that left him with one option.]

[Running with impressive speed for his small legs, Kurtis dashes between the creature's legs. As he does so, he quickly fires energy blasts from his flipper upward to the creature's belly.]

[Kurtis takes that as a cue to flee, and tries to run out of range. Unfortunately the shockwave is still enough to knock him off his feet. Meanwhile the gauntlets land near him, having finally caught up to him.

[Kurtis recovered quickly and was already firing his gauntlets again. This time, he was hitting the Woolly with everything he had. As soon as the gauntlets were flying, and without watching to see what they did he ran back to the creature and leapt onto its back. Firing as many energy blasts as he could directly into it.]

[The bad news is that Kurtis has no way to dodge the trunk. The good news is that the blow sends him rolling along the ground. If hit had knocked him upward or downward a little more, he would have exploded as soon as he'd hit the ground. Kurtis is bruised and dizzy, and very relieved to still be alive, but he pulls himself to his feet quickly, pulls out another pair of gauntlets (he keeps four pairs) and fires them toward the elephant.]

[Now Kurtis is starting to see the pattern. Instead of trying to run, he braces himself, accepting the hit. It's painful, but Kurtis manages to stay on his feet. As soon as it's over he runs to the Woolly's side and fires several blasts at it, then tries to run outside of the range of its attack before it can react.]
