Made it to London, totally in love with this place. Jet lag is a motha fucka, no doubt. Staying with Paola is a nice way to enter into the area. We slept most of the afternoon, the plane ride was in a sense "hard". We think our stomachs didn't like the thai we had for lunch. The seats were really cramped and combined with the lack of fresh air, we were feeling rather nauseous.
Customs was a little bit of a pain as well. They didn't like the fact that we had our plane tickets set for 7 months out and had not documented proof that we were leaving. The itenerary for Spain was on the checked baggage and we haven't bought our plane tickets for thailand just yet. Hopefully we'll be doing that tomorrow. Gary hooked Melanie up with a good contact person in london that makes frequent flights to thailand and hopefully we'll get a good rate.
Leaving the airport was hard, saying goodbye to Jeremy and Logan was hard, saying goodbye to my father was harder. Brief tears rolled, I'm happy that he let them flow first. My first bought of homesickness was washed away on the 45 minute London Underground ride to Paola's house. I can't believe the exchange rate for the british pound. $220 US dollars got us 110 pounds. Good thing we're not staying here long, or else we'd be fucking our wallets. The people here are very refreshing. Everywhere we've been, which hasn't been to many places as of yet, I don't see crowds of people blanketed in sports team clothing and other mass corporate appearal. I'm a big hat and jacket person and there's tons of good fashion for that here.
I really wanted to hit up the "End" club here in London before we left, doesn't look like the best of music though. Tomorrow night is a toss up for seing Peter Kruder and Jazzanova or this party called "Fabric" which I believe is a monthley, tomorrow night is Carl Craig, Claude Young, a few others. My feelings are leaning towards the latter, good techno on good british sound souns appetizing.
Can't access my email from Paola's computer for some reason. Will try and work that out before we go. Other than that, we're really excited and the enviroment is cleansing my soul like I would have never imagined.
