The start of a whole new way of seeing the world?

Opened the yahoo main page to check my e-mail and the first news article to greet my eye was about Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi getting married. First impression was like, woah! They were dating!??! Which, being not that up-to-date on celebrity gossip, I did not know about. And then I read the comments at the bottom, which was a mix of supportive, hate-mail and random people advertising for "company". Right.

Hopefully having a high profile couple leading the way for same sex relationships might change the way people perceived what "love" should be about. Does who a person loves affect the personality, character or principles a person is or has? I don't think so. Murderers and general psychopaths are probably heterosexuals yet they still hurt others. With them being the "new thing" for Hollywood, hopefully they managed to create awareness that homosexuals are the same as heterosexuals and they do not deserve to be ostrasized for who they love.

In the same thread, it seems that mainstream tv are less afraid to have homosexual characters appearing on the show. So far, none as a main character yet, but there are some. Like in Grey's Anatomy (which my roomie watched, not me), there were 2 (at least) homosexual couples/patient and there was a scene where 2 guys were kissing. Although, if that guy were sick enough to be admitted, I'm not sure he would feel up to making out in a hospital room...And then, I recently watched the last two episodes of House Season 4 and seriously? House was willing to die for Wilson. And also, this is what was re-inforced : everyone's House's bitch, and House is Wilson's bitch. Lolz. He totally caved in when Wilson pulled the teary puppy-dog eyes. It would have been fun, if it wasn't for what actually happened. I seriously think that this might be one of the best episodes in House since...3 Stories, which was another epic.

That said, I'll be off to bed as I am dead tired. Sweet dreams of a better world. It might not be world peace, but at least a small step in the right direction. ^_^
