Just got back from the ONE OK ROCK concert in Singapore!
This is more like a recounting of my personal experience, it doesn't really have details about the concert, such as the setlist and stuff. sumimasen!
There are a few somewhat blurry pics at the end though...
I got there a couple of hours before the concert was scheduled to start, and the lines were LONG! there were like 4-5 layers of people stretching from the Hard Rock Cafe to the end of The Forum, and back!
So I went off to buy something to drink at 7-11…which was promptly confiscated at the entrance to the venue. tsk tsk.
First off, let me just say, I was suuuuuper unhappy with the venue. It was so freaking HOT!!! It was outdoors, like a tent, and not air conditioned! And of course, those people who were in line ended up packed in there! So, there were a LOT of sweaty people crammed into that hot outdoors space. tsk.
PLUS, the stage wasn’t so high, and the venue was FLAT, so I couldn’t see much beyond people’s heads and arms. ugh. I know I should have just squeezed closer to the stage but it was too mendokuse hahahaha.
The crowd was pretty mixed, a lot of rocker guys and girls. And a LOT of them had ONE OK ROCK shirts (seriously, where did they get those? oh well, I’m better off not knowing since I’m not supposed to spend hahaha)
Also, I think I didn’t listen to their latest album/singles. Because I totally did NOT recognize some of the songs. BAKA Yna not preparing for the concert!
well I hope, err no I WILL prepare for my job interviews better from now on, better than I prepared for this concert haha
Remembered late Early in the show (like the first or 2nd song) Taka said: "I'm gonna show you something interesting" then he started rapping. Kyaaa so cool!!! ♥♥♥♥
They played some of the songs I like, and some I don’t really like. But they were all so hyper! They were all jumping all over the stage (with the exception of the drummer of course) throughout the concert! I was on the left side facing the stage, so I could see Mr Shirtless Bassist, aka Ryota, most of the time. I’m sorry but did I mention my fave member is Taka? no? well he is
But Mr. Shirtless Bassist and Mr. Guitarist, aka Toru, were also pretty cool. And oh, they’re all younger than me. huh. I didn’t know that.
In case you’re wondering…Ryota basically spent the whole concert shirtless. Probably because it was so freaking HOT out there. All of them were super sweaty within the first song! haha.
Taka’s voice was so… beautiful. I love it. Can’t say I love it more than anyone else’s, but it’s damn good.
The Johnny’s fangirl in me was like “where are the moving stages? are they gonna fly now?” hahaha. But Taka wouldn’t have suited the Johnny’s style, and I think it’s good that he went out and joined a band instead.
And just when I was about to be ok-but-slightly-disappointed with the concert, they finally said something that I’d been waiting for, “The next song will be the last song” sadface “The Beginning”
me: OMG MY FAVORITE ONE OK ROCK SONG! NOW I’M HAPPY! hahaha /easily pleased
But that gave me mixed feelings, because that song is my favorite ONE OK ROCK song, and, well, they were ending with it. That was the song that got me hyped up dammit!
Then after their beautiful rendition of The Beginning, they went off…and people were calling “Mou Ikkai!!!!” then “En-co-ru!!!” They took so long that I thought they’d ignore the chants…but they came back! Yay!
And Taka said, “You want more? Ok, I’ll sing for you.”
I swear my heart melted at that! Plus, they started with a few chords and… it was “Wherever You Are”, another favorite ONE OK ROCK song!!! Kyaaaa!
They waited for the very end to sing my two favorite songs! So that concert was so bitin for me, since I was just getting 盛りあげる (hyped up).
And I noticed, in the members’ English speeches, every single one said “Fucking amazing”. hahaha. Is that your theme dears? LOL.
After the concert, I didn’t know what to listen to on the way home (more than an hour by train)! Weird. I tried listening to ONE OK ROCK songs, but stopped because the live versions I just heard were so much more “fucking amazing” than the recorded ones!
So I ended up listening to GLAY songs instead, haha. Still J-rock, but I haven’t seen them live.
OMG ONE OK ROCK I want to see you guys again! And I’ll be happy, again, if you sing those last two songs, again. hahaha /easily pleased
Oh, and a few random pics taken from my iPad mini. I left my camera at home because I thought I wouldn't need it...argh. should have just brought it since lots of people were taking pics!
