I'm at the risk of sounding increasingly mundane, but hey I get to do what I want here! d=
Started yoga today. I'm going for the 20 sessions one, every Tuesday and Thursday. (= It wasn't quite like what I expected, but it was still a good experience, and an affordable one! The class size is small too, so erm, more bang for buck? *grins*
I took my lunch at the Fisbowl Cafe (reminds me of the old fishbowl layout I had... which come to think of it, might answer daddy's "what happened to the fish pond?" question). It looked as if it's all right to eat outside food in there, and I'm still perplexed by the lack of rules in the school. It seems like you can eat everywhere, in the classrooms, LTs, and even during lessons! But I'm more worried about where I shouldn't eat at, and the only place that I'm sure of that prohibits eating, is the library - only because it declares so with signs everywhere. It takes a lot of getting used to, because in all the schools I've went to, you may only eat (legally with respect to school rules) in the canteen.
After lunch, I went to the library to finish reading up the first chapter for psychology. I skipped the last 2 pages since I hadn't enough time, but thankfully, I got almost all the facts somewhat registered in my head. Haha and I managed full marks for my quiz! Granted, there were only 20 multiple-choice questions, and I'd got 2 out of the 4 bonus ones wrong, but that's not so bad for someone who only started reading the night before! x= hao lian-ing (showing off or promoting oneself) is bad, but if it's motivational, it's semi-justified right? haha.
And to some questions I pondered previously:
1. What's the canadian accent?
2. Since every one goes around drinking coffees, are caffeinated beverages cheap?
3. Do most female uni students go around with handbags and hold their books in their hands?
The answers (or my attempts at them):
1. Most teenage girls seem to adopt this "slanted" way of speaking. I wouldn't know how to recapture that in writing, but it doesn't have a wide range of intonations, yet it's not flat either. It's like they just keep fitting the words into the same pattern of speaking. o_O
2. No, no, no. They cost at least 2 bucks, which seemed only average to me. It's definitely not a cheap enough alternative to other non-alcoholic beverages!
3. They almost always do. Even if they're carrying backpacks, they usually have a handbag with them.
Anyway, some interesting things I've learnt in class:
4 causes of anger in cognitive theory
1. Awfulization: to exaggerate the situation such that it sounds worse than it actually is.
2. LFT: low frustration tolerance
3. should's, ought's, and must's
4. denigration
The first made me think of the story of the guy
who wanted to borrow a jack, which zyfie sent me. The third reminded me that instead of thinking "zyfie should have prepared to leave before the time we're supposed to meet!", it would be better for me to think: "I would prefer it if he's on time." Of course, I should not have taken a jibe at him again. x=
