They may just be teasing us with the departuire of Martha. They left themselves an "out" for her to return.

I liked the fact that the Master was left neither dead nor imprisoned. It leaves scope for further Master stories, though I imagine that what happened implies a covert regeneration and that we'll get a new actor in the role. (I imagine that Jon Simms is too busy to be available wheber he's required.)

It looks to me as though we may well be seeing Lucy again in the next story to feature the Master.

I think my main problem with the episode was that - though I accept that Martha is very brave, intelligent and resourceful - I find it hard to believe that anyone could be as superhuman as she was required to be in that episode.

True, she could return and I wouldn't complain if she did. On the other hand a new companion would also be intreaging. Either way is good.

I didn't so much mind it in general, I just felt how it was done was a bit clumsy. It reminded me too much of the end of Flash Gordon. It would be wonderful to get Simms back in teh role, but I doubt it'll happen.

Same here, I hope they use her a little better in this episode. But I do hope they do more with her, at any rate.

You know, I didn't get that at all. I mean all she really did is wander the planet for a year. And with her 'ignore me key,' that's not an utter impossibility. I consider it a bit amazing yeah, but still possible. But maybe that's just me.

One other thought. With no time travel capability, the Master is going to be stuck in our own time for a bit. I wonder if he might make an appearance in the second series of Torchwood?

Oh that would be utterly awsome! I mean... WOW, I would kill to see that! I don't think it's going to happen... from what I could gather from listening to teh commentry on the ep it seemed that this production team has no intention of bringing him back (unless they were trying to fool us, something I would't put past them) and that the thing at the end was more for future production teams. BUT to do that would be absolutely awsome. I mean... wow. Yeah. Fingers crossed on that one at any rate!
Personally I just look forward to finding out what the Torchwood gang did in the Himalayas.

Regarding Bad point 4: it was too cheesy for me. Or at least, not cheesy, because I kinda love that sort of thing, but just too unbelievable and silly. He came back all superhuman and odd and it seemed just really silly.

Oh, but Good points 3 and 5? So much in agreement there :)

For me it was the floating. The explenation I could buy. The Psychic energy and rejuvination... yeah, I get that. But the floating? Too OTT for me.
But it did just about work because I did love the idea behind it, the idea that the Master can control a lot, but not what we think. I like that.

That and the bits which followed, where the Doctor whispers, 'I forgive you,' just made it for me. So yeah, that bit JUST worked but, as I said on teh bad points, I could well see why I didn't for other people.

Oh the 'I forgive you' bit made the whole ep for me. I mentioned on my LJ that RTD could have me for that line alone, despite what he put me through in more or less all the events beforehand.

I'm like the opposite of you, heh. I love the whole idea behind the Doctor's coming back like he did, the prayer and the power of the people and love and everything. It was just ruined for me with the silly floaty, thing, and the silly patched-together 'science' explaination for it. I guess I just don't like things that fail to make sense :(

But I was left after this episode with sadness and love, rather than annoyance.

Nah, you misunderstand (or rather I put myself badly) it was the floaty thing that annoyed me too. If it hadn't been for that I would have liked it a lot better. The rest of it, even the energy stuff, I bought. But the floating? Nope. Cheeeeesyyyy ( ... )
