Regarding Bad point 4: it was too cheesy for me. Or at least, not cheesy, because I kinda love that sort of thing, but just too unbelievable and silly. He came back all superhuman and odd and it seemed just really silly.
Oh, but Good points 3 and 5? So much in agreement there :)
For me it was the floating. The explenation I could buy. The Psychic energy and rejuvination... yeah, I get that. But the floating? Too OTT for me. But it did just about work because I did love the idea behind it, the idea that the Master can control a lot, but not what we think. I like that.
That and the bits which followed, where the Doctor whispers, 'I forgive you,' just made it for me. So yeah, that bit JUST worked but, as I said on teh bad points, I could well see why I didn't for other people.
Oh the 'I forgive you' bit made the whole ep for me. I mentioned on my LJ that RTD could have me for that line alone, despite what he put me through in more or less all the events beforehand.
I'm like the opposite of you, heh. I love the whole idea behind the Doctor's coming back like he did, the prayer and the power of the people and love and everything. It was just ruined for me with the silly floaty, thing, and the silly patched-together 'science' explaination for it. I guess I just don't like things that fail to make sense :(
But I was left after this episode with sadness and love, rather than annoyance.
Nah, you misunderstand (or rather I put myself badly) it was the floaty thing that annoyed me too. If it hadn't been for that I would have liked it a lot better. The rest of it, even the energy stuff, I bought. But the floating? Nope. Cheeeeesyyyy
