It's the new drama season!

The Confirmed Ones
Yowakutemo Katemasu ~ Aoshi-sensei to Heppoko Koukoukyuuji no Yabou (NTV, April 12~)
My interest in baseball has so far been limited to Adachi Mitsuru's mangas. Real-life baseball has yet seemed appealing to watch nor to play. (Also, even though I've read so many Adachi Mitsuru's baseball-themed mangas, I still don't fully understand the rules of baseball. Forever a mystery.) So, it's most probably not the baseball theme which interests me. Apart from the obvious (NINO), I've been trying to recall the things which has made this drama seem appealing to me.
First of all, there have been a lot of promotion for the drama, so it can't be helped if I grew more and more interested with each one I watched - that's the purpose of promotion after all XD. Next, there was this comment by Nino where he said that this drama is not the kind that is going to suddenly inspire people to play baseball, and that there isn't any particular message to take away from it. Maybe it's just another cynical comment typical of Nino (which I enjoy very much btw), but I'd like to believe there must be some truth behind it lol. On top of that, I simply like the fact that he said something unusual like that. Setting aside how true that statement really is, it did leave an impact XD. And then, I also like how apparently the weak baseball team is going to strive to win by using their head. That sounds interesting.
Randomly, there's also the timeliness of the issue which is used as the main character's setting. Nino plays a researcher who was forced to become a teacher because the laboratory he worked in was closed down due to a scandal of fabricated research paper. According to
this tweet - supposing it's a reliable source lol - this setting has been decided long before the recent Riken scandal happened. It's the little things XD;
Noooo, I didn't just write this wall of text for a drama I haven't even watched! I have such high expectation that I'm a bit worried it'll end up being anticlimatic XD. Then again, I'm easily pleased, so there really isn't anything to worry about lol.
Shinigami-kun (TV Asahi, April 18~)
Initially, I wasn't all that interested in this one. But then I saw the line 「おめでとうございます。お迎えに上がりました」 and I loved the... paradox, if that's an appropriate word to describe it. At the same time, it made total sense. Uhh, I don't know how to properly describe it. Anyway, saw another similar line today while browsing through the official website: 「残念ですが、貴方はまだ死ねません」
Ridiculous as it may sound, I can almost say I'm watching this one for those lines lol.
Platonic (NHK, May 25~)
Platonic is a story of a single mother, who has a daughter with a heart disease, falling in love with a young man. It's actually the kind I'd usually avoid because it sounds like it's going to be so dramatic and soppy and all those things that will make me lose my patience. BUT TSUYOSHI! XD So, here's hoping it's going to turn out to be a happier drama than what the synopsis suggests.
Coincidentally, like last season, I have three different dramas with different themes (and also from three different TV network lol). Good job, self! XD
The "if I should be in the mood for more" Ones
Shinkaishaku, Nihonshi (TBS, April 29~): Written by the same person who did Saibanchou, Watashi no Kirai na Tantei, and Tenma-san \XD/ I'm not confident I'll understand the historical references that'd be in this one though...
Border ~ Keishichou Sousa Ikka Satsujinhan Sousa Dai 4-gakari (TV Asahi, April 10~): Oguri Shun. A police detective died being shot in the head, but when he was resuscitated, he could communicate with the dead.
Alice no Toge (TBS, April 11~): Ueno Juri. Kuriyama Chiaki. Main character became a doctor to seek revenge for his father's death.
White Lab ~ Keishichou Tokubetsu Kagaku Sousahan (TBS, April 14~): Kitamura Kazuki. Tanihara Sosuke. And, hey, Yabu! Eccentric characters and a crime lab.
Smoking Gun ~ Ketteiteki Shouko (Fuji TV, April 9~): Shingo. Also about forensics.
The SPs
Yonimo Kimyou na Monogatari Spring 2014 - Story 1 - NEET na Kare Cute na Kanojo (Fuji TV, April 5): Tamallama. Watched.
Itsuka Hi no Ataru Basho (NHK, April 1, SP): Saito Takumi ♥
Now for a little recap of the dramas I've watched last season. I finished all three dramas on my priority list before the start of this new season, so yay self!
// 2014 Winter
Dr. DMAT
I really loved it. I probably enjoy medical drama more than I think I do, especially the ones like Code Blue and DMAT, where the doctors are dispatched to the scene of the accident. It was a first for me to watch a medical drama without English subs. As a result, it took me a lot of time to watch each episode because I had to look up meaning of medical terms, but it was worth it. I don't know how many of those words actually remain in my brain, but I'd like to believe at least a few do XD
I was like, "OMG how could you be talking so calmly when someone just behind you is having a metal rod pierced through his body!!??" and it looks even more ridiculous in still picture lol.
Uuhhhhh I loved Hibiki x Rin so much. The last episode was just too tragic. I cried my eyes out. To not spoil it too much... what I'd wished was just a misleading preview at the end of the second to last episode turned out to be exactly what it was suggesting. I was like NOOOOOOOOO! WHYYYYYYYYY? NOOOOOOO!!! /waterfall of tears
[@a_kikuT]
I've never read the manga, but it's cool to see these drawings by the manga's author and compare the characters in the drama and the manga. So that's how Kura would look like as a manga character XD (...which reminds me of
this. I want moooore of something like this X3)
Shitsuren Chocolatier
I'm glad the ending for Sota was what it was. I mean, I can't imagine a better way to end it since it would have felt either forced or just wrong if he ended up with either of the three. It was ridiculous how Sota and Saeko got away with their affair just like that though. (And I don't like how they made the husband's character so heartless and unreasonable. It came off like they want to make it easier for the viewers to forgive Sota and Saeko's affair by making the husband the bad guy. Hah.) That said, I like what Saeko said in the last episode about how she didn't know if her marriage is going to work in the long run. It might work -supposing the husband never finds out nor suspects what Saeko did when she was away from home- or it might end up in a divorce; nobody knows what will happen in the future. What is shown in the ending is just the present state of affairs. Things can change in the future beyond the ending. We'll just have to imagine them ourselves.
Point is, those words made the ending acceptable to me, if that makes any sense. I fail at explaining my thoughts, so, whatever, moving on...
Saeko turned out to be more matured than how she looked. Or maybe she's just good with words. I can't remember what she said specifically, but, especially in the last few episodes, the things she said to Kaoruko made a lot of sense (and since my thinking is pretty much similar to Kaoruko's, just like Kaoruko, I couldn't refute Saeko's logic lol).
I'd get the Blu-ray if I had the money -I'd need to buy a Blu-ray player first though- if it's just for the pretty visual. And that doesn't only apply for Jun...
♥
Of course I enjoyed watching the "more intense" scenes very much too, but I was like "omg waaaaaaaaaant" at this one scene the most. It was stupidly cute and gave me the tingly feelings all over X3
(Sota and Elena were suuuuper cute as sex friends, but then my love for Elena -and for Sota x Elena- faded away as quickly as how quickly she got over the drummer dude. Huh.)
Ahhh, probably the only thing I'm sad about was how there wasn't any further development for this pair. TAT
The random shitsuren janken! At the end, it was a 4-3 win for me \o/ Looking at the score, I'd actually drawn as many times as I'd won lol.
Watashi no Kirai na Tantei
Except for how Akemi can get a little annoying sometimes and how the Ukai x Akemi direction in the last episode felt so forced, I enjoyed this one very much, for the silliness and for the mystery. And I love the random references to other detective stories, like NazoDi ("shall we wait until after the dinner?"), Kindaichi Shounen ("I swear on my grandfather's name!"), Meitantei Conan ("the sleeping Akemi"), Mikeneko Holmes, and probably more but I can't remember XD
I watched the first episode of Dark System, but I was like "???" throughout, and not in the way I like it, so I didn't bother continuing. Apart from these, I only watched one other thing that was new: Kagi no Kakatta Heya SP. Huh, that's unexpectedly few. Right, I have a few SP dramas from this season I haven't downloaded. And I watched quite a few older dramas and SP dramas (and movies).
This post turns into a much bigger wall of text than I'd planned 8|;
So, my YowaKate download has finished! Now, do I watch it now or do I go to sleep and leave it for tomorrow? 8|
