Chapter 14: Failed Challenge

Summary: A girl was forced to change her identity and gender due to her family problem. On the other hand, Chinen Yuuri of the famous boy band 'Hey! Say! JUMP' injured himself in one of their rehearsals for the upcoming winter concert. A temporary replacement was found to replace him. Will the other members, especially his good friend - Yamada Ryosuke, be able to accept the fact about his injury and the new member? And who exactly is this mysterious replacer with an unknown past?

After that day, Ryoko gathered the whole of JUMP in her house, together with her mother, Mizuki and Yuusuke, to discuss about the situation. At first, Ryoko couldn't accept any of the suggestions made. However, when Keito suddenly pointed out the main problem and what was stopping her from forgiving her father, Ryoko bit her lips hard to prevent her tears from falling. Finally, when JUMP, Yuusuke, Mizuki and her mother all suggested that she should forgive her father and pay a visit to him, she nodded her head slowly and earned herself around of loud applause from them.
Few days later, after she had called up Yuma to arrange the meeting, she sat in the small café together with Ryosuke. She was so nervous that she held Ryosuke’s hand harder than ever. When Yuma and their father arrived, Ryoko was already too tense to speak and Ryosuke had to speak in place of her. As the topic began to narrow down deeper into the past, Yuma signaled Ryosuke to leave the both of them alone.
Throughout the talk, her father was apologizing profusely. At the end of every sentence, there would bound to be a ‘sorry’. Tears were brimming up her eyes as she listened to her father attentively. Finally, before Yuma brought their father home, their father placed Ryoko’s hand on Yuma’s and held the both of them together. That made the tears, which Ryoko had been struggling to prevent them from falling, to fall freely and continuously.
Before their father left, he patted Ryosuke’s shoulder and smiled.
“I’ll place her in your hands now. Please take good care of Ryoko for me.”

A week later, the whole of JUMP and Ryoko were in the meeting room while Yuusuke was informing them about their upcoming schedule.
“Well, for the next few weeks or month, your schedule will be very tight. Because of Ryoko, many variety shows and magazines want to interview her and so, they decided to invite the whole group along,” Yuusuke announced and the members sighed.
“Our winter concert had just ended and now, we’ve another tight schedule?” Kei grumbled and massaged his temples.
Yuusuke took a quick glimpse at each of the members and sighed.
“Well, I can’t do anything much either. Johnny-san doesn’t seem like he will allow me to cancel any interviews,” Yuusuke said sadly with a shrug.
Ryoko raised her hand slowly and looked at the other members.
“Yuusuke-kun, if the tight schedule is due to me, why not I attend the interviews alone?” she suggested and immediately earned a glare from Ryosuke.
“No, I won’t let you attend alone!” Ryosuke said instantly, banging the table softly and stood up.
The atmosphere became tense all of a sudden and the rest of the members started coughing. Yuusuke clicked his tongue and crossed his arms.
“Ryosuke-kun, Ryoko, can the both of you keep your personal affairs away during work time? It can dis-“
Ring! Ring!
Everyone stared at Yuusuke and immediately, he excused himself and headed outside to pick up the call. Meanwhile, back in the room, the rest of the members stared at the couple with teasing looks.
“So Yama-chan, how’s you and Ryo-chan going on?” Hikaru teased, nudging Ryosuke.
“Yeah, which stage are the both of you at now?” Kei asked innocently which made Ryoko gasped softly and her face became beet red immediately.
The members shifted their gaze to her then to Ryosuke and started to gather around him.
“Eh? Yama-chan? Why did Ryoko blush so quickly? What did the both of you do?” Kota asked, narrowing his eyes.
“Oh! Don’t tell me that the both of you actually…,” Ryutaro exclaimed loudly and pretended to be in shock and Ryoko blushed even harder.
“Yama-chan! How could you!” Yuto chipping in and Ryosuke stared at them in wide-eye.
“What?!” Ryosuke raised his voice and stood up.
“All of you are so dirty-minded! The both of us did nothing that disappoints our parents!” Ryosuke retorted and wrapped his arms around Ryoko’s shoulders which startled her.
“Ryosuke?” she called, confused by his sudden action.
The members widened their eyes and before they could say anything, Yuusuke rushed into the room and everyone looked at him strangely.
“Yuusuke-kun, what’s wrong?” Ryoko asked, raising her eyebrows.
Yuusuke shook his head and looked at each of the members slowly before locking his gaze on the couple.
“He has found out that you had leaked out your real identity. Johnny-san has found out,” he said slowly.
The members widened their eyes and shifted their gaze to Ryoko who stared back at Yuusuke in horror.
“Wh-what?” she blurted out and Ryosuke released his arms around her.
“He also knew about your relationship with...”
Ryoko shifted her gaze slowly to Ryosuke who did the same as well and Yuusuke pointed his finger at him.
“…Ryosuke-kun…”
