10 Day Meme: Day 1

Mar 07, 2011 20:02

In the not so distant past (like last week, maybe?) Fellow LJ Denzien, and Good Man sinetimore  bravely went through and answered all of the following over a 10 day period.  I have elected to do likewise, just because I can.  Another LJ Denzien, the ever popular mardeen  is likewise answering the following.  Do yourself a favor and check out my friends answers.

In the name of full disclosure, I've actually shared what I wrote with some of these people.  They know who they are.

Day One:  Ten things you want to say to ten different people right now.

1.  Thank you for your love.

It's a decision.  You chose to do this, and continue to do so each and every day.  It's been said that love isn't a switch, that you just can't turn it off and on, but you can choose to let it die.  Because love, being a verb, requires action.  It's not the warm glow inside.  You can get the same chemical rush from a chocolate bar.  No, you choose to Love.   Renewing that choice every day.  Thank you, Elaine.  I am ever grateful to you and mindful of what a gift you've given me.  I adore you and hope to show you that each and every day.

2. Thank you for your Grace and Courage

I know that contacting me wasn't easy for you.  That there were so many "things" in your life that made it easy to just continue to stay away.  I know that seeing me will cost you something.  For that, I am sorry.  So damned sorry.   I'll carry that guilt and knowledge with me for the rest of my days.

Still, you have not only shown great courage but uncommon grace.  I'm not talking about grace in the sense of how you walk or dance, but Grace.  You extended me a favor that you did not need to extend, yet you did.  That, Dear One, is amazing to me.   And humbling.  It makes me realize just how special you truly are.  Between you and Elaine, I am the most blessed man I know.

3. Your constant encouragement is an amazing thing to me.

I just don't get it sometimes.  From your first comment until the present day, you've been a good friend and great one for encouraging me in my writing, both the good and the bad.  Thank you.  I am very grateful.  We should all have friends like you.

4.  You really need to get over yourself.

We were good friends, but the political situation in your state has totally messed up your mind.  You think that a great many people are out to get you and that's not the case.  In fact, it isn't even personal.  They don't care about you personally, they aren't pushing you around on a personal level and whatever it was that I said that crammed the Stupid up your butt so that it impacted your brain had nothing to do with Wisconsin politics.

For such a smart man, you are really being foolish.  I am not "one of those out get you" but I am actually on your side in that.  I don't know where you got the notion I was a bully or that I was trying to throw my weight around.  Your blunt dismissal of me when I asked how you were doing showed me that you were truly the one with the problem.  I don't feel so bad about it anymore.

But, I do miss my friend.  And I hope things get better for you and you can relax.

5.  For somebody who does not share my Faith, you understand the value of Redemption better than most Christians I know.

When you told me that you honestly believed that everyone was worthy of redemption, you opened my eyes and fears up to a sense of hope I have seldom experienced in my faith.  For that, thank you.

Also, introducing me to Indian Food merits a mention and gratitude!

6.  You, my friend, are reliable and dependable.

When we had our troubles last year, you were there for us.  No matter the inconvenience to you, you helped us out.  Friend does not begin to describe this, but I will leave it at that.  We are both humbled by this and grateful for this.  Thank you.

7.  It is in the past, don't you think it is time to Let it Go?

Much of what you are upset about happened years ago.  Please, for the sake of our families, let it go.  Let it go for your sake, far more than mine.  I can't apologize anymore and I can't change it.  I love you and I miss you.

8.  Despite all fo the problems we had over the years, including the mutual destructiveness of the relationship at times, I miss you more as each year passes, Mother.  You died far too young and left us all far to soon.

9. You know, Dad...you are right. You made some big mistakes with us when we were growing up.  You would sit in the room and be a million miles away.  And yeah, there were other things you could've done and didn't.  Yet, through it all, I never doubted that you loved me or my sister.  That never crossed my mind.  Furthermore, when you remarried, you got it right with her kids.  You learned from it.  Most don't get the chance to apply lessons like that and you took it and ran with it.  I'm proud of you for doing so, to be honest.  I love you, Dad.

10.  And finally....

Even though, I am unworthy, you died for me.  Took the blame for my sin, my punishment, took it upon yourself, out of love, not just for me, but everyone and you died.  Not gladly, but willingly.

Thank you, Jesus.  Since you died for me, I attempt to live for you.
