A couple of weeks ago while cleaning out the cabinet beneath the kitchen sink I found an old, unused kitchen sponge. I can't quite remember how it got there but I know I avoided using it for ages because it was poorly-made and felt too thin. Anyway, I saw an idea for
mess-free sponge painting for kids on Pinterest so I thought I'd use the sponge for it.
All that's needed is an old water bottle, a sponge, paint, and rubber bands to secure the sponge to the bottle. Unfortunately, I thinned out the tempera paint a little too much because it quickly seeped through the sponge (which was also probably too thin), resulting in a splatter effect. The Bun was a little disappointed because he was expecting to do some stamping, which he loves, so I made up for it by throwing a couple of toy cars in and letting him create patterns with the paint. Not so mess-free after all!
It's worth a second try for when I next liberate another sponge.
