A Quickie Supernatural Update...#5

Jul 20, 2015 01:29

Big thunder and lightning storm tonight so I couldn't be on my computer very much. But I did manage three more episodes: Hell House, Something Wicked and Provenance. I also watched the Special Features on the last disc. I have only three more episodes to watch so my next update will be the final one for season one.
My thoughts, briefly )

dvds, season 1, supernatural

Oops - Forgot to add this scene from Something Wicked :DDD

Love how he calls Sam "little brother" here <3<3<3

Oh, and this icon I asked you about last time. Do you recognize the scene now?

I know "little brother" is cute considering that Jared is anything but little. But Sam is younger so I guess that makes him the little brother.

I recognize the scene from your icon, but I have no idea which episode it's from. Because I'm watching so many episodes in such a short time, they kind of all run together.

I did some research last night on the boys. You probably already know this, but the similarities are amazing: Both from Texas, both have an older brother and younger sister, both married in 2010. I didn't realize that Jared's wife had been on the show and that was how they met. I'll have to keep an eye out for "Ruby." Any idea which season she's in?

Dean has a gorgeous singing voice. Does he ever sing in the show? Does Jared also sing?

Plus they were also groomsmen at each other's weddings and they live almost next to each other in Texas and spend most of hiatus between seasons hanging out with each other and the wives and kids. They refer to each other as my brother that's how close they are.

Jensen is a wonderful singer. He used to be really shy and reserved at cons but now he sings at most of them. Google the Vegas SPN Con from this year on Youtube and look for footage from the Saturday night concert. He's a friggin rock star!!!!
Dean does sing in the show a few times (s3, s7, s10) but pretty badly. Kripke put in scripts that Dean sings really off-key and Jensen's said it's hard to do that.

Jared can sing but he hasn't so far at any cons. He's got a lovely deep voice. He sang on Jason Mann's 'Christmas With Friends' cd and I'm really hoping he'll do a song on Jason's next cd, Cover With Friends.

Yes, I saw some photos of them at each other's weddings. So they both still live in Texas; I didn't know that. Jared's little boys are so adorable and Thomas looks so much like Jared. I like that Dean and his wife named their little girl Justice and call her "J J." :)

Thanks for the tip about the Vegas SPN Con. I'll check it out as soon as I type this.

Yes, it's definitely hard to sing intentionally off-key. I know, been there done that. I was a vocal music major in college and had to do that once for a musical we performed.

ooh! I'll have to get Jensen's CD. I didn't know he'd made one.

Jensen hasn't done a cd. Jason Manns who is a musician friend of his did a CD last Xmas where a few SPN actors (from later seasons) did songs or duets. Jensen sang Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas and Jared did the first verse of I'm Dreaming Of A White Xmas.
He's currently doing a kickstarter for another Cd that will feature Jensen again and other SPN actors. Am hoping Jared will also do another song.

Jason Manns

Again search on Youtube for Jensen singing and you'll gets lots and lots of vids.

Gotta ask this now that you've seen most of season 1 and don't worry there is no right or wrong answer.

Sam or Dean???? Whose your favourite???

Thanks for the Jason Manns link. Interesting fellow. I will do a search at YouTube for Jensen singing, as you suggest. A while back I came across a video where he was singing and playing guitar, but I wasn't really "into" Supernatural back then.

Sam or Dean???? Whose your favourite???

WHAT? That's like asking a mother which of her children is her favorite. In all honesty, I can't choose. They go together like bread and butter, tea and crumpets, beer and pizza....I can't imagine one without the other so I love them equally. And their affection for each other is the undercurrent that runs thoughout the show. I can't imagine having to choose one over the other.

Evasive enough for you? *smirks*

Well, I watched the Vegas Con Saturday Night Concert and Jensen KILLED "Sister Christian." I love that song. The others were good fun, too. I wonder why he didn't have his guitar with him. I know he plays well.

But then this video came up and I darn near spit Coke all over my keyboard. How hilarious!

Reminded me of the kid in Something Wicked who rolled his eyes while checking in the boys then said, "Uh, yeah...two queens." That was so funny.

Have you ever noticed that occasionally Jared and Robert Downey, Jr. sound a bit alike when speaking.?

"little brother" is cute considering that Jared is anything but little.
LOL, that's true, although I never thought of it that way. For me it was the heart squeeze after the little boy asked Dean "would you do anything for your little brother?" And the significance of Dean using that phrase when he finally killed the monster and saved Sam. It's an indication of how he's always seen Sam - you know the little brother he had to take care of, but it's almost like he's time-slipping to that time long ago like, he killed the monster back then instead of now. Does that make sense? I can't quite put it to words. I just love that scene <3<3

The scene from my icon was in Provenance,at the very beginning, when Dean urges Sam to go have some fun with some girls at the bar (but Sam doesn't) and Dean is all hung over the next day.

Jared and Jensen being from Texas is played with on the show. It's pretty cute. You will see the second Ruby, Jared's wife, in Season 4.

On the show, Dean is supposed to be a very bad singer. He sings a couple of times, VERY off tune LOL

Oh, I realized Dean doesn't refer to Sam as "little brother" because of his size. It's more like a term of endearment and I love that he does it. And yes, what you said makes sense.

vyperdd mentioned that Dean had to sing off-key in a couple of episodes and that he said it was very difficult. I agree that it is. I was a vocal music major in college and had to sing off-key in one of our musical productions. I had a really hard time nailing it.

Have you seen this video? I came across it tonight and darn near spit Coke all over my keyboard. It's hilarious!!!

YES! I have! But I had to listen to it again :D I laugh like a loon when I watch these con vids. Everyone thinks I've gone nuts :D

That reminds me the other day I was reading the new Outlander book and she is crazy funny sometimes so I was laughing away and hubby came up and was surprised I was only reading a book. "When you're laughing like that you're usually watching something SPN related, so I was sure that was what you were doing" he says. LOL

Jared and Jensen are both just awesome on stage.

That video totally cracked me up. I watched it three times. Those boys are simply hilarious together sometimes.

Jared and Jensen are both just awesome on stage.

Understatement!

When you say "the new Outlander book" do you mean Written in My Own Heart's Blood? I read it when it was first published, but I don't remember there being anything especially funny except some stuff near the beginning with Jenny and also William's rampage.

Yes, In My Own Heart's Blood. I'm in the serious part now - not so much to laugh about - but I LOL at sarcasm, especially Claire's thoughts and lines. At the time I was reading the first part where Jamie and Sir John had gone off and Claire takes Hal hostage. Pg 30 in my book ;P

Oh yes! I read it so long ago that I'd forgotten about how much humor there was at the beginning of the book. During the Outlander hiatus I'm reading the Poldark books. Sooo good. Have you seen the new Poldark show on TV? It's awesome and I think I'm in love with Aidan Turner. That's right...I'm a fan girl polygamist. :)

No, I haven't. I'll definitely put it on my list of books to read though :D
