My Progress Binge Watching "Supernatural"

I was amazed at the number of you who commented on the entry where I said I had the DVDs of season one and intended to start binge watching. It was great to receive such a warm welcome to this fandom, which I know is filled with wonderful people.

Many of you asked me to report on what I thought. Disc one included the pilot (which I loved and can understand how all of you got hooked), "Wendigo", "Dead in the Water" (my favorite) and "Phantom Traveler." I watched the latter a second time with commentary by Jared and Dean. They were a hoot together on the commentary. My thoughts are under the cut because I tend to ramble a bit.

I was very happy to see that Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays their father, John. I have long been a great admirer of this actor. I know he appears in subsequent episodes and I look forward to seeing more of him.

Jensen and Jared are both beyond adorable. Consider me a fan.

I actually said, "OH!" out loud when I saw that David Nutter directed "Wendigo." He's a terrific director and directed "The Red Wedding" episode in "Game Thrones" and the final two episodes of the last season. He's sooo good.

I noticed that Raelle Tucker and Sera Gamble were co-editors on the episodes I've seen so far. I know most of you hated it when Sera took over as show runner in season six. But Raelle Tucker was a writer on "True Blood" and her episodes were among the best.

I loved Dean's Chevy Impala; what a cool car.

In the commentary for "Phantom Traveler" Jensen said he had asked the director if he should do something differently. The reply was, "If I'm not yelling at you, you're doing what I want." LOL I don't think I'll be doing an entry like this for the rest of season one; suffice to say I'm loving it. And in case any of your missed the "Supernatural" panel at Comic Con last week, it's wonderful!!

And now for my fellow "Penny Dreadful" fans, I have finished watching both seasons of this show on line. In the first season when Ethan drew the tarot card "The Lovers", I thought for sure he and Vanessa would end up together. Hmm, maybe in season three. Also, what on earth did that doctor do to Vanessa in the asylum? I thought he was planning to do a lobotomy, but if he had, Vanessa would never have been able to function so well for the rest of the story.

I said it before and I'll say it again, I am completely in awe of the acting ability of Eva Green. She has shown every emotion there is in this show. What an absolutely amazing actress.

penny dreadful, binge watching, supernatural
