What to Do when It's Below Zero

My cats have the right idea. Just curl up together and take a nap.

Compton, Sam and Dancer were sound asleep when I walked into the den, but when I turned on the camera, they looked up. Compton, especially, on the left looked very suspicious.

Aww, I guess they don't know what to make of the camera. They're smart to cuddle like that, it's sure to keep them warm. We had a freeze last night, but by morning it was in the low 30's. I hope it warms up for you soon!

If the camera didn't make any noise it might be better, but now if Compton even sees me holding it, he takes off.

Gosh, you had a freeze? I guess the weather is highly unusual everywhere. We'll be OK. We have plenty of groceries and cat food and don't need to go anyway all week.

What if you gave them some cat treats after taking a pic of them.. maybe they'd associate it with something nice?

It's usually above freezing here, but it's normal to have some nights in Dec or Jan that are in the 20's or low 30's. I'm glad you're well prepared for the cold weather.

That might work with a dog, but the cats disappear and probably wouldn't associate the treat with the camera. It's better to turn on the camera a couple of rooms away so they don't hear it then just sit quietly with the camera hidden and suddenly....SNAP!

It will work for awhile, but they're very suspicious.

Love your icon. Are you planning to make some winter Olympics icons? I have lots for the summer Olympics, but could definitely use some skiing and ice skating icons.

I downloaded some pics last night to make some icons, but I can't make great ones like you do. All I can do is crop and resize larger photos. I know a lot of LJers love your icons so they would probably be interested in some Olympic ones, too.
