a purchase, and plans

so last night, after work, i ran to target to get a couple of things and i noticed that they had the season 10 simpsons dvd on sale for 13.99. i was on the fence about buying this one; i sort of felt that this was the season where it got iffy and i didn't think i wanted that set. i have seasons 1-9 already, and i didn't pay more than $20 for any one of them (and two were gifts). so i said to myself awhile ago, if i ever see season 10 on sale for less than $15, i'll consider it.

thus, last night, i saw it, and considered it. since i've been poor the past few months, and have bought almost nothing that's entirely unnecessary and completely for fun, cause i want it that's why, and it was within my preset range of money, i decided to get it. can always sell it later if i don't like it, i thought, and an evening of revisiting old simpsons eps sounded good to me.

and, let me tell you, i was stupid to even sit on the fence about this set. i watched the first four episodes last night, and every single one was one i really like, and the other two on the first disc are ones i remember liking too (examples: "lard of the dance", when lisa meets the over-mature girl and homer tries to make money selling secondhand grease; "bart the mother", when bart accidentally kills the bird and then raises its eggs since he feels guilty; etc.) i think the issue is that i couldn't really tie the episodes to their titles the way i could with the earlier ones, so i would look at the back of the box and think "what are these again? i don't remember this. that must be because i didn't like them!!" yeah, i can be dumb sometimes.

now, granted, i've got three full discs left. but i have hope after this start; obviously i misestimated when the show got really odd in a way i don't like. i'll have to push it up to season 11 or maybe even 12 when i cut off buying them.

in other news, i got my air conditioner out since it's humid and gross outside. and i realized that i have to rearrange some of the furniture in my room, since plugging the AC into the other socket (yes, there are only two) makes that socket not want to play nice with any other things plugged into it. so, like last summer, i will move my bed, night stand, and bookshelves around and plug a power strip into the power strip plugged into the socket that still works so i can actually use my alarm clock, phone charger, and bedside lamp. if my apartment building burns down, y'all don't know nothin. bout anything. ya heard?
