Nanowrimo Halfway Report!

Nov 13, 2013 23:23

Guess who just reached 25,000 words~~~ *happy dance!*

Considering I was doubting I'd be able to handle Nano this year, very very happy right now. Halfway done :D And approximately 2 days ahead, so I've got a buffer period in case writers' block hits me over the head.

To celebrate, here's a few ficbits for you guys. They're not in any particular order, and no I'm not explaining the context, so you'll just have to guess what's going on until the full story goes up :P (after Spirit Wars is done being posted, of course...maybe I should Nano that in December, might actually finish it faster).

This is totally unbetaed by the way, and considering the speed of Nano I don't doubt there's errors in here somewhere. Please disregard, I'll be betaing before posting the full thing ><

Turning around, SeHun’s eyes landed on a full-length mirror on the other side of the room. Had that been there before? He hadn’t noticed it until then, but he was sure that wall had held just paintings last time he’d looked. His reflection looked back out at him as he slowly made his way over to it.

Stopping in front of it, he looked the mirror up and down. It was attached securely to the wall, so it had to have been there before. Lips pursing slightly, he took a step back and looked around the wall it was on.

Out of the corner of his eyes his reflection didn’t so much as turn it’s head, eyes locked on SeHun. Startled, SeHun looked back at the mirror. Lifting one arm experimentally, he snorted when the reflection followed suit. So he was imagining things now. Turning away, he walked back to where the door was. As weird as the room was, he wanted to leave now.

SeHun’s footsteps stopped as he looked up and down the wall suddenly filled with massive paintings. Where was the door? It had been right here. The hair at the back of his neck prickled. Slowly turning around, SeHun’s eyes were drawn to the mirror again.

His reflection stood as if he was still directly in front of the mirror. SeHun watched, eyes slowly widening as the reflection pressed both hands against the glass, looking around with equally large eyes. Then it started to pound on the mirror with one fist.

“Did you forget, TheHunnie? You set that blond fag on us and ruined our reputation. This is what happens when you squeal instead of taking what you deserve.” The boy with the soda pulled off the lid and upended the cup’s contents over SeHun’s head, SeHun sputtering and coughing.

“Hey, what are you three doing?”

The foot on SeHun’s back lifted. Looking up and blinking the soda out of his eyes, SeHun saw someone standing at the entrance to the alley. The young man a couple years older than him looked shocked, eyes wide behind thick-rimmed glasses. An expensive-looking camera hung from his neck, both hands holding on to it tightly.

“Back off four-eyes,” laughed the boy who’d punched SeHun. “Or we’ll break your toy there.” He kicked SeHun in the stomach, forcing a yelp of pain out of him.

“No, no, stop that, right now.” The man with the camera strode forward. “L-Leave him alone.”

The three laughed at the audible stuttering. “One retard standing up for another retard,” the one eating the pizza dropped his food on SeHun’s head before cracking his knuckles, stepping forward. “We warned you.” His fist swung for the other man’s face.

If SeHun had blinked, he would have completely missed it. Dark bands of shadow curled around the man’s wrist and slowed the punch enough for the guy with the camera to catch the fist before it could hit his face. Then he retaliated, throwing a punch of his own. A black wave pushed out of his fist and slammed into his attacker’s stomach, knocking him back several feet to land head over heels.

“No…No, I warned you,” exhaled the guy with the camera, brushing brown-red hair out of his eyes. “Leave him alone.”

Darkness crept down the alley towards them, shadows intensifying as the temperature dropped several degrees. The two boys left ran, too spooked to even help their friend. The third guy staggered to his feet and ran after them, nearly smashing into the brick wall in his haste to get away.

Slowly sitting up and clutching his sore stomach, SeHun’s eyes were wide as his gaze landed on a large shape appearing beside the other man. A black panther materialized out of the darkness, sharp teeth flashing as it yawned widely.

“What was all that about?” Lu Han asked beside him.

“…She wants me to go to the Hongdae Moon Café,” SeHun frowned. “Wouldn’t say why, just said I’d miss something.”

“…That’s where my friends are,” Lu Han perked up. “Maybe something interesting’s going on. Let’s go!”

Blinking, SeHun staggered when Lu Han grabbed his hand and tugged him down the street. The older man really liked dragging him around all over the city. Giving a token tug on his wrist just to say he had, SeHun sighed and just tried to walk beside him instead.

It didn’t take them too long to reach the café; SeHun lived in Hongdae, making it a short walk. Slowing as they approached the door, SeHun wondered if they were supposed to just march inside or not.

That question was quickly answered, a large shape dropping down from the roof. Bennu, JongDae’s overgrown heron spirit, flapped his wings to land clumsily off to one side of the café. He cawed at Lu Han and SeHun before trying to fly down the narrow alleyway.

“…What the hell,” Lu Han snorted when Bennu quickly found out his wingspan was too wide for the alley and landed in a tangled heap of feathers and long stick legs.

“He’s your spirit beast all right,” SeHun heard HaRa’s voice as they stepped into the mouth of the alleyway.

“I don’t know what you mean by that, and I don’t want to know.” JongDae crouched beside Bennu and helped get the heron standing upright again.

And that's all you get until the full story comes out :P

A lot of main characters from Spirit Wars reappear in this story as minor characters, and some minor characters step forward to become mains. And then SOME characters just decide "Screw your plots, I want to join" and wedge their way in whether their author wants them there or not *eyes HaRa and JongDae*

pairing: sehun/luhan, type: ficbits, au: spirit beasts, fanfic: lightning spirit, fandom: exo, writing: fanfiction
