The rain poured down in buckets, thunder crashing overhead. Path lit only by the lightning, he ran as fast as his legs could carry him, panting. The boy was drenched in freezing rain, feet squelching in his shoes with each step, but that didn't matter. Nothing mattered except the bundle wrapped up in his jacket, his arms numb from carrying it this far. But he couldn't stop.

"You're going to be okay, you hear me?" He yelled over the booming thunder.

A quiet "Char" was his answer, and he could only be thankful there was a reply at all. He blinked back tears mixed with rain, breath choking on sobs. He had to make it. He had to.

If Charmander's tail flame went out, his Pokemon would die. He could see it in his mind's eye, barely sheltered by his soaked jacket from the wind and the rain. Growing dimmer and dimmer.

"Charmander!"

The building was silent. GyuRi poured cups of tea for them in the back, making a face at the Eevee glaring at them from the corner of the small hut. They'd been unsuccessful in getting it into one of their Pokeballs so far, but well...there were more important things to worry about right now than a stubborn fox.

Sighing softly, she looked towards the only bed in the hut, JungMin sitting on the floor beside it with his knees drawn to his chest. He hadn't moved for over two hours, watching over Charmeleon.

They'd been trying to catch a Kangaskhan (Kangaskhans were rare, especially in Aspen) when Charmeleon fell into the nearby river. Suddenly, all fun and games were over. GyuRi had never seen JungMin so serious, or desperate, in her years as his Team Rocket partner.

There was no Pokemon Center nearby, nor could they exactly walk into one as Team Rocket, but she was sure JungMin would have tried anyways if there had been one available. Thankfully, they'd found this place in the middle of the woods and broken in. It was warm and had a fireplace that they'd had roaring within minutes. Charmeleon seemed to be out of danger, but it was a near thing.

"Here." GyuRi stopped beside JungMin, holding out the cup of tea. He glanced at it blankly, hair still damp from when he'd jumped into the river after Charmeleon. "You need to drink something, oppa."

"Thanks," he mumbled, taking the cup from her and cradling it lightly. He didn't drink any though, just watching Charmeleon sleep. GyuRi sighed, going to sit down on the other side of the room. She knew nothing about medicine, and JungMin had already used all the potions they had (not much) on Charmeleon. Now they just waited.

The door to the hut opened, and some guy walked in with a Vulpix on his shoulder. And stopped in shock. "What the..."

GyuRi's eyes snapped to the door. "Delcatty, thunder wave!" She snapped. Her Pokemon dozing in the corner snapped to attention, releasing waves of static electricity from her mouth.

The guy in the doorway and the Vulpix fell to the door, shocked into immobilization. "Who...what's going on?" He asked, looking from one person to the other. JungMin had looked their way, but made no attempt to move from the bedside.

Well, that meant GyuRi was dealing with this on her own. "Listen to me, you're going to go sit in that corner and don't even think about calling for help," she ordered, hands on her hips. "Put the Vulpix in a pokeball and hand them all over." Just because JungMin was having a crisis didn't mean they couldn't nab some Pokemon.

"But...what are you doing in my house?" stuttered the stranger, who tried to do as told even as the thunder wave kept him from moving too suddenly. "I don't have any other Pokemon, just Vulpix. You aren't going to take her away!"

"Just do as I say, no questions!"

"GyuRi." Blinking, GyuRi looked over her shoulder at JungMin, who was looking at her. "Just leave the Vulpix."

"But-" She protested, then deflated. "Oh fine, oppa. But you," she turned back to the stranger. "still do as I say, you're not going anywhere."

"Okay, okay," the kid crawled to the designated corner, unable to stand. Vulpix curled up in his lap, shaking. Then he seemed to notice Charmeleon. "Oh...if you needed shelter, you could have just said so. I don't have any potions here though."

"We know, we checked," GyuRi rolled her eyes, glancing at the corner where Eevee was. Then did a double-take.

Eevee was gone, it's bindings chewed through and lying in the corner.

GyuRi looked around quickly, seeing the open door. "Oh no...oppa, Eevee got away!" She ran to the door and looked out, but didn't see any sign of the Pokemon they'd caught. "Oppa, did you-" She looked back, eyes widening when she saw JungMin gently cupping Charmeleon's tail flame with both hands. It was dim, far too dim.

The guy in the corner, seemingly over his house being broken into, finally managed to get to his feet. "Get him into the fireplace," he winced, hands shaking a little after the thunder wave attack. "Vulpix," he motioned at his Pokemon, who darted towards the bed and leap up beside Charmeleon.

JungMin gathered his Pokemon in his arms, grunting with the weight as he lifted Charmeleon off the bed and brought him back to the fireplace. He laid his Pokemon down inside the fireplace, wincing at the embers burning his hands. GyuRi pulled back on his sleeves before he could catch fire, Vulpix leaning over the grate to nudge Charmeleon's tail onto the logs.

"That should help," The stranger crouched down next to them, frowning worriedly at Charmeleon who hadn't moved throughout the transition. If the flames couldn't revive him, nothing could.

"Oppa," GyuRi whispered, trying to look at JungMin's burned hands. The man brushed her off, eyes focused on Charmeleon.

Half an hour passed before there was any change. Charmeleon groaned softly, body relaxing into the fireplace. The flame on his tail burned brighter.

"He'll be okay," the guy with the Vulpix said, smiling in relief. JungMin's shoulder slumped and he smiled, closing his eyes.

"Vee?"

GyuRi shrieked when something nudged her arm, turning around. Eevee sat behind her. "What...?" He came back?

And he had berries dangling out of his mouth. Blinking repeatedly, GyuRi watched the Eevee paw at JungMin's arm just above his burns before depositing the berries on GyuRi's lap. "Oh..." Her eyes widened and she picked up the berries. Taking JungMin's arm, she tried squashing the berries and rubbing it against the burns.

JungMin winced, before sighing in relief. "That...actually helps."

"But why would Eevee..." GyuRi murmured, glancing at the Eevee as she covered JungMin's burns with the mashed berries. Eevee was nose-to-nose with Vulpix, the two foxes sniffing each other curiously.

"Char." Charmeleon opened his eyes.

JungMin's expression lit up. "Hey," he reached out towards his friend before GyuRi snatched his arm back.

"You're going to burn yourself again," she scolded. JungMin finally smiled.
