The idiosyncracies of band naming are so annoying at times when you're trying to go for accuracy. I know, for example, that the correct writing of a certain LA band is  "that dog." with no capitalization and a period at the end. I just learned last night that the Operation Ivy CD I own is called Energy. How did I not know that until now? And how does one know such a thing when there's no title on the CD? I always thought it was just self-titled. Apparently, I was not as into CA ska and punk as I thought I was when I was younger ( Read more... )

Rex's friend went to last night's Radiohead concert, and he sent Rex a text message that told him that THE BAND PLAYED "FAKE PLASTIC TREES" LAST NIGHT!!!

Rex was sad because it may very well be his favorite Radiohead song. Oh well.

This weekend, I was magically transported back to 2002 with a weekend of shows with Suzanne.

I got tickets to Radiohead at the Bowl! I realized later that I don't even know if I'll be in town for the show, but hey! It's Radiohead!

A bit of trivia I just discovered: One of my favorite Tori Amos songs, "Tear in Your Hand," references Neil Gaiman. Huh. I always wondered which Neil was saying hi. :)

This also reminds me that I haven't listened to Tori for ages. Anyone (aka Julia) have an opinion on her last album?

Okay, back to work.

It is weird enough that I have students listening to "Anybody Else but You" (and not remembering that I once played part of it in class as an example of something), but...the Moldy Peaches were on The View this week? Weeeeird!

Also, why is Maroon 5 playing a Super Bowl-related anything? Seriously.
