Yeah...

I haven't posted anything in awhile. I made the mistake of reading Meyer's blog and read the entry for the twenty sixth of last month. Here is a quote from said blog.
"Aro stared into my eyes for a long, tense moment. I had no idea what he was searching for, or what he found, but after he had measured me for that moment, something in his face changed, a faint shift in the set of his mouth and eyes, and I knew that Aro had made his decision."
In this short analysis, after Bella has revealed the depth of her power, Aro plays out in his head the probable outcome of a battle with the Cullens. Much like what we see in the movie, Aro foresees a more evenly matched fight than he had expected, the loss of too many of his key players, and-most unacceptable-the likelihood of his own death. Though odds are that the Volturi would have come out on top in the end, Aro wouldn't have lived to see it and the unassailable nature of the Volturi's authority would have been broken, possibly forever. It is this vision of the future-though imperfect guesswork on his part-that motivates his retreat.
Also...
“A few reporters asked me if I would have done anything different in the battle if I had written it; the answer is yes. Mainly, I would have killed more Cullens.”
Apparently the reason why there was no fight was because Bella was such a major Mary Sue that Aro felt that the Voltori should flee with their tails between their legs because he might end up dead.
This is despite the fact Bella's power doesn't work on all powers. This is also despite the fact Aro and some of the other Voltori's ability to fight isn't lessened by not being able to use his powers, so the idea that he backed off because they were “more evenly matched” doesn't add up. This is also despite the fact the Voltori would have felt the need to destroy the half-breeds if they determined them to be as dangerous as the immortal children. This is despite the fact the real reason there was no fight as the Voltori determined hybrids did not constitute a threat, not because Bella has Mary Sue powers.
Actually... I don't blame Aro for wanting to run with his tail between his legs from a Mary Sue. If you don't read fanfiction, you may not get the joke there. If Bella wasn't a Mary Sue, her powers wouldn't be able to protect everyone, but only a select few people. Meyer's pretty much admitted that her character is a Mary Sue again without realizing it, not to mention the fact she's confirmed authorial intent.
Seriously, there are other reasons why Aro could have been staring at Bella, one of which includes thinking of ways to get certain members onto his side, particular if he determined that Bella and Edward's daughter wasn't an actual threat. Instead of coming to the conclusion that he would end up dead, he could have come to the conclusion that he wouldn't be able to make them a part of his coven. Particularly since I was under the impression that the Voltori don't fight if there is no need to.

Then again, I was thinking how a writer is supposed to think about character interactions.

P.S. One of the movie exclusive characters shares the same first name as Hitsugaya Toshiro from Bleach. Joy.
