"Lesbos": childish insult, or an impressively classicist way to pay homage to Sappho?

I have an interview at Marlboro College tomorrow! I hope that my portfolio is half as killer as I think it is. (I have no experience with this sort of thing, you see.)

I hadn't even heard of the concept of "application supplements" when I sent out all of my Common Applications. It turns out that there are a lot more things that I need to complete and deliver... but everything (and this time it really is everything) that I need for Marlboro is completed and ready to turn in.

I can't blame my college counselor for the misunderstanding, because he's awfully busy. (It didn't stop me from getting all high-diction-pissed-off at him, though.) Word to the wise: getting high-diction-pissed-off is always humiliating in retrospect.

"I AM IN THE THROES OF A GENUINE DISASTER THROUGH A CRITICAL ERROR OF YOUR OWN!" I'm such a dork.

Wish me luck on the interview, dear friends.

-Rachel

(PS: Dig the entry title.)
