I really don't want to be rude, but some people need to be hit over the head with a two by four. (Starting with my son, today, but that's another kettle of fish.)

I don't understand this one! How can anyone delete things that are in your inbox? I'm assuming you mean your LJ inbox?

When someone deletes a comment off my LJ it converts to "deleted comment" in my LJ inbox. I have no idea why, but that's what's happening, it's annoying the beezus out of me.

Instead of comment by LJ USER XYZ followed by the comment it pops up as (Deleted comment in yellowrosetx) not even a notice where it was nuked from or who had originally posted it.

I find it rather disturbing that this sort of surreptitious behavior is perpetrated by people in your comments often enough that this is even an issue. Maybe LJ should give the poster the option to screen their own comments?
